Any advice on what to look out for on delivery?

Featured Replies

Has anyone any words of wisdom to offer following their own experience? Checklist?

Bring LOTS of Money......:eek::eek::eek:

I advise the following:

Go in daylight, dry if possible. Take your time to check over the car looking carefully at all body panels (for even gaps), paint (no scuffs or blemishes), make sure wheels are undamaged. Likewise the interior. Check the spec you've ordered and any extras are fitted. Check all equipt especially lights work. Make sure tyre pressures are all correct (inc spare) Ensure you get a copy of delivery invoice from dealer and read it to confirm correct model and engine. None of these are extreme measures, rather faults I've come across or heard of on delivery with other makes.

Having said all of that, mine was perfect on delivery, I'm very thorough and I'm pleased to say I couldn't fault it.

I hope yours is as good.

Make sure you get the tyre pressure checked as well before you take the delivery. On mine I was not happy with the ride after about a week and then found both front and rear tyres had the same psi. And less than the recommened value. Once it was sorted there was a tremendous difference in ride quality. As I do motorway everyday, now I check each weekend.

Out of interest, are the recommended tyre pressures on your 1.9Tdi Superb 2.1 Bar front and 2.0 Bar rear? These are the pressures recommended for my Octy II 1.9Tdi which uses the same 205/55/R16 tyres fitted to your Superb?

Is your Superb fitted with Contis, and if so, which model of tyre?

I have 2.0 TDI. Recommended tyre pressure is:

- Front - 2.4/240/34.8

- Rear - 2.5/250/36.2

See the attached photo for Superb2 1.9TDI - hope it's useful.

Yes - Conti SportsContact2.

Apologies, I thought your Superb was a 1.9Tdi,

Many thanks for the tyre info. It is interesting that the rear tyre pressures are higher than the front, as this is the reverse on my Octy II.

When I picked mine up the lights were on auto. Driving from the showroom on a December afternoon pleased in my new car, I noticed lots of people coming the other way flashing me. "Must be admiring my new car" thought I.

After several more cars, I double checked that my main beams weren't on and carried on. Few minutes later I was at some lights waiting to turn right and caught sight of my car in a shop front ahead and the headlights were burning my eyes out.

Parked up checked everything and even though on dipped they seemed overly bright. Called the dealer and immediately went back. I described what I had seen and they seemed non fussed until they got it on the ramps and got the MOT light testing box out. Both headlights were shooting skywards and would have been blinding oncoming cars with my nice new Bi xenon lamps. They had to double check with it hooked up to the test rig and then adjust them quite a bit to make them 'legal'. Their comment was that they never check new cars headlights as they presumed they were right coming off the production line.
