312mm calipers & Carriers

Featured Replies

Hi all, Im in the process of fitting a 312mm brake upgrade to my Furby vRS, I have the discs and pads but unfortunately the calipers and carriers Id sourced off an Audi TT from a breakers have been sold:mad:. Im really struggling to track another set down! Does anyone know if I can find these parts on another vehicle other than the TT to broaden my search and chances of finding them. Does one of the Octavia models come fitted with them as standard?

Thanks guys, John

Octavia vRS is fitted with them as std.

Failing that Golfturbo still gets the complete sets

I have finally acquired the 312mm carriers but am unsure as to whether I need some calipers? The guy I bought the carriers off worked at a specialist performance VAG garage in Milton Keynes and was adamant that my existing calipers (288m) were the correct ones? If this is the case then can someone explain why I need the larger carriers? I have not touched brakes before but thought the carriers would hold the calipers and larger 312mm disc? Can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether I need to buy calipers or not?

Thanks for the help, John

yes you deffinatly need the calipers:thumbup:

Thanks guys! I reckon I might struggle to find the calipers on their own, even breakers prefer to sell the carriers and calipers as a set. oh well, theyre not getting fitted till February so Ive got a couple weeks to find them.

It shouldnt be a problem to sell the carriers on their own as people with Octavia's, Leon and Golf's with the 288mm brakes who want to upgrade to 312mm, only require the carriers.

I've bought the calipers off the Octy vRS Fiendish Fly is breaking! Which means I'm all set to get these brakes on - just got to paint the calipers up this weekend and get them fitted! Pics to follow. :)

Did you buy carriers too? Boycarp is looking for some 312mm carriers if you have them

I only got the calipers off Fiendish Fly - long story but I got the carriers off one of the SeatCupra.net lads. Fiendish Fly should still have the 312mm carriers as he asked me if I wanted them! Failing that I found a breaker yard yesterday with 3 Octy vRS's in. They did still have the brakes on as well but didn't get back to me with a price, they're email and pics never came through to me. I'll send you the details tomorrow when I get to work as not got them at home.

John

Do you have to buy the 312mm caliper or can you use the 288mm calipers with the 312mm carriers?

It all depends on which car you have. I honestly don't know if your octi will be OK with just the carriers or if you will need calipers too.

Hi Matt,

The web address of the breakers that have a few Octy vRS's with the 312mm brakes is Cleave Motor Salvage used car, commercial parts, salvage cars, commercial breakers, end of life, scrap just give the parts section a call - the guy I spoke to was happy to send some pics through but I think they were having internet connection problems hence why I just bought mine of Fiendish Fly as I wanted them sharpish!

Anyway worth a call :D
