scratches behind door handles

Featured Replies

Hi - Anyone ever had a go at removing the classic marks you get behind door handles from rings, etc. Wondering whether a simple claying will help to remove them, or if I should consider some more serious remedial work? :)

Thanks

I use a German applicator with cutting compound under the handles, usually with a bit of elbow grease it will come up well, in worst case scenario I will pop the handles off to allow better access.

The claying wont really make a difference oter than preparing the surface for polishing and I would use a cutting polish rather than a filler polish in that area because it is 'high traffic' and the filler will soon wear out.

Will probably try original T-cut first. :)

Would it be worth applying some clear lacquer (sp?) afterwards?

Megs Scratch X does the job.

Have found some T-cut scratch removing paste. Reckon that will at least improve the state of it.

Get a grip Jason, haven't you got anything better to do?

It's bloody cold out there you know :D

god washing car this morning the foam froze on the car! I wouldn't be out there polishing!

Its 10 degree down here! Practically balmy!

Tcut scratch removing paste did an absolute perfect job behind the handles. Very very happy indeed with the improvement behind the handles, and around the handle too.

Sounds good Jase - I've usually used Scratch-X in the past for these areas. It's always been to correct the area from previous owners though; I can never understand how people manage to scratch behind there, even with rings on

I only have an english or 1/2 english 1/2 polish applicator available.... do you think that would work :P;):D

Lost in translation....

;)

Absolutley no chance, the english ones moan about half way round and then strike demanding the reduction of the cost of compound, the german one streamlines the process making it effective and economical.

silicon carbbbbbbbbb..... nope cant finish it.

Haha, did you see the Dave repeat earlier as well by any chance? ;)

ScratchX helps...

I apply it with yellow foam applicator.

If anyone around you has a DA or a rotary with a small backing plate then they should be able to get these out for you no worries.........

Another Vote for scratchX and that's on skoda silver

yep, scratch X and microfibre
