S3 Upper strut brace

Featured Replies

Got the upper and lower S3 braces fitted but how do you stop the dump valve touching the upper brace?

Out of curiosity, what nuts & bolts did you use to fit this?

Sorry I couldn't answer your question.

I used 6 M10x25 Hex bolts with nyloc nuts and washers. Hope that helps

I ended up getting a DV relocation kit and moving the DV to the front of the engine.

Bit of a drastic option!

Like Rob, I too have relocated my dump valve to the front of the engine. I used the kit from Forge. However, this then caused the DV to rattle on the bonnet support rod, so to stop that I removed it and fitted bonnet lifters

I wish mine was blue. And I like that intercooler pipe with the DV connection already there. Was that part of the kit you got?

It was indeed. The kit included the intercooler pipe, the relocation pipe, 90 degree connectors and vacuum tube(which could do to be slightly longer)

The link to the kit on Forge's site is here

Mine came with a metal T piece that you had to slice up the existing pipe to fit. I wonder if you can buy that pipe separately... will send Forge an email :)

I fitted my Strut brace with the same bolts in above threads. My Forge DV is quite some distance from the Brace, You do have a option to twist the TIP slightly to get the DV to be away from the brace, when you tighten up the MAF.

I wish my engine bay was so clean.

I thought mine was fairly clean, but now I realise I must scrub harder!

I shortened my T.I.P....

But then it was in two sections anyway sleeved it with a stainless insert....

Ok thanks for the ideas guys I think I will try the easy one first which is turning the TIP slightly

I ditched my Forge TIP and went back to standard and the DV was more than far enough to stop the contact between the 2. Didn't notice any gains from the Forge one anyway, just heard the turbo a little more.

After spending an afternoon removing engine cover to sand paper out the imperfections, and sand paper the inlet manifold, I occasionally polish the engine cover, inlet manifold and CAI with autosol or Meguiars alloy polish, and it does keep clean for some time. Thanks for the comments.

Heres another pic as I am feeling good.
