Spot the difference (tyres)

Featured Replies

I'm looking at new tyres for my Fabia vRS SE and have thought about going for the toyo proxes T1-R's however I want to avoid getting a set that my car will burn through within 10k.

Heres the question.

On Tyres 40% Cheaper than leading tyres depots, free mobile tyre fitting they sell them at £92.20 a corner, Tyresite have them at around £70 while black circles sell them for £57.25 a corner. Are these the same tyers? Both have a speed rating of W and the normal size for the vRS (205/45/16).

The ones from Blackcirlces wont be fitted for that price.

Try Event Tyres I've just had a full set of T1R's for £82.50 a piece.

Hmmm good spot however I'm going to ask around a few local garages as I'm sure I could get them fitted pretty cheap.

How have you found the Toyo's to be? Are they hard wearing?

Camskill will blow those prices out of the water for T1-Rs, although factor in fitting elsewhere. But still, £55 a corner next-day delivered :)

As I've said numerous times on these sorts of threads, I'll buy T1-Rs for as long as they make them. I've simply not found anything better. Yes, there's more than likely other tyres that will outlast them, but for the money and the grip and feedback they give, it's a no-brainer IMO.

I would tend to agree with this and my last set did 17k and three track days

I am in the process of trying a set of Falkan Ziex 912's which are promising (Especially for £60 a corner fitted) but it's too early to say how good they are. Inital indications are very good

Black circle includes fitting, balancing etc - they deliver to a depot of your choice on their list. I've had a few sets from them and no problems. I've no connection except as a customer. HTH

if your going to get them deliverd and fitted try and find a few places and compair prices, when i got mine done i was quoted £12-14 by most places but after some searching found a good place for about £10 a corner.

I always get my tyres from camskill and get them fitted round the corner from me.

I had several sets of Proxeses, and found they lasted pretty well, provided they were 'overinflated' by 3 or 4 psi, otherwise the shoulders wore out before your eyes! I too am on 912s now - having tried P Zero Neros in-between - and am pretty happy with the handling they give but they don't seem to be lasting quite as well as the Proxeses used to. Cheaper though, I guess so it's swings and roundabout. I'd go back to the Proxeses, but for some daft reason, I can't stand leaving boy-racer >>>>>>>>>>> marks on the drive now there's a babyseat in the back! :o

Oh, and having tried blackcircles and mytyres, I still keep going back to Event Tyres. Maybe not the absolute cheapest price, but super-convenient, being a mobile outfit. Plus, when I used mytyres, the fitting place they offered didn't know anything about it ('Oh, I wondered why we'd had some tyres delivered', said the garage owner), and the place I used with blackcircles did the balancing so poorly that I had to pull of the M1 and hunt for a tyre place because the vibrations were so bad I couldn't continue the journey I was on...

My recommendation would be a set of Proxeses, fitted by Event!

I'll second both of that ()

Many thanks for the advice. I'm going to find out today how much my local tyre garage would charge for fitting a new set.

I've had a lot of trouble with Black Circle tires. Changing dates post booking. It was very annoying and in the end I chose to spend the extra £30 to organise it with the garage direct.

Ordered my last 2 from black circles. They included fitting, valves, old tyre disposal. The local garage I went to seemed spot on, fitted them in less an hour and I was away and saved myself a bunch of notes too.

Completely hassle free
