I need to purchase a roof box for this years camping holidays (borrowed my dads Thule Alpine Ski box last year but it's too small approx 260l)

I've been looking at the Karrite Odyssey 470l but just wondering if anyone has one of these or what boxes do you have and what are their plus points and negative points.

Don't forget that because its bigger, and therefore heavier, you will be able to put less in it weight wise!

The weight limit for the roof is about 50kg IIRC including the weight of the box and roofrack, so you are probably looking at under 40kg for the load you can put in it. I'd be interested to know what the box does to the fuel consumption, I have a 360L box and that seems to knock about 5-7mpg off the consumption with my 110 TDi.

yep, the box is rated at 50kg, it's for putting the tent in and possibly the sleeping bags. My dads older ski box dropped the mpg by about 4mpg so I'm expecting this to double as this is double the width.
