supercharger??

Featured Replies

has anyone done a supercharger jobby on there octi was thinkin about it for a bit more power rather than changin the engine

any comments?

A turbocharger is much more efficient.

What engine do you currently have? If you want forced induction you'd probably have to rebuild it anyway, at cost. So buying a 1.8T engine might turn out cheaper anyway.

If you find a 225bhp 1.8T from an Audi S3, you'd be on to a winner. I can't imagine you'd want more power than that in the octy anyway.

I know of a guy that supercharged and turbocharged a 1.8T mk4 Golf, and ran 4wd. But I expect he spent a rather large wedge of cash.....

Out of interest and slightly off topic... can the octy be twin turbo'd at all:confused:

just wondered if this would solve the big turbo upgrades, of then having turbo lag...

sorry to OP if ive hijacked :)

I assume it could be twin-turbo-ed but you would need a custom-made manifold, custom made inlet piping, not to mention some electronic trickery to control when each turbo spools up and at what pressure both their wastegates open.

2 stage turbo could be interesting as well.

One low pressure stage, one high pressure.....

Minimise lag, but still maintain a high peak pressure ratio for big power!

No room though!

Yep ;)

Anything is possible, money and time permitting ;)

As others, I'd think the way to forced induction in a petrol Octy is a 1.8T transplant.

Similar thoughts about an SDi too.

Would it not be easier and cheaper to just buy a 1.8T Octavia rather than go to all the trouble of changing the engine from stock? I would expect insurance to be cheaper too.

We do these things not because they are logical and cheap, but because we can.

Yep ;)

does this mean that it has in fact been done by someone then ;) i'd like to know more sometime if the answer is yes :) *i wont clog up this thread anymore on the subject*

there is a guy with a vw golf mk4 twin charged has a supercharger g60 and a turbo running 500bhp + so yes it can be done
