Tyre pressures, seem a little low..............

Featured Replies

I was checking my new Vrs over yesterday and looked at the tyre pressures on the fuel cap. As far as I can workout converting the BAR pressure into PSI, the front need 29 psi and the rear need 30 psi. Seems a little low for me

Any suggestions please.

I thought it was around 2.2 bar which is around 32-34psi

Yea I also think they are a little low, same Bar as yours even though mine is the PD140 estate.

I've gone to 31 all round, seems ok.

There have been several threads about tyre pressures, if you do a search you will see many different opinions. Two common variations for vRS's are 32psi all round, others go for 34f/32r (with no load, with load 34 all round).

Just been and double checked, for the 18'' wheels, 2.0 bar in the front and 2.1 in the rear

Which is probably about right for my 80 year old dad.....

I always regard the placard as a "this is the minimum we recomend" and work my way upwards from there. 36F/34R works for me.

As is reported in other threads 2.35bar all round works well (for me at least); 'cept I'm running 2.3bar at present during the 'winter'.

Give it a go; you will be pleasantly surprised.

Additionally, if you can, get the tyres (re)inflated with nitrogen, not regular compressed air. They keep their pressure longer and as less susceptible to variation of pressure with temperature/use.

My 17's are running 32 all round, and 34 loaded.

Remember if the tyres have been worked at check, you'll need to add 2-3 extra. That's what I do on the works car when out and about, and when it's back home they're bang on Fords recommended settings.

I used to run 34 front and 32 rear in my petrol vRS. I think the recommended were the same though.
