HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am suppoed to be picking up my new Black Furby vRS next Wed 1st and am having sleepless nights in anticipation.

However, as this is the first NEW car I have ever purchased, I am a little iunsure of the form. I spoke to the dealer Sat just gone and he assured me that things were fine BUT that he had to source it from another dealer up North somewhere. The vRS is standard, no extras no fireworks just factory. He told me he would call me this week to let me know the precise collection date (already warned it could be the 1st, 2nd or 3rd of Sept) and the reg no for insurance etc. By this, I assumed he'd have called by now BUT HE HASN'T. :(

So, my question is this, is it normal when purchasing a new car to wait until the last minute to hear when it can be picked up?, should he have called by now?, and how long should it take once it has arrived at the dealership to prep etc for collection???

Am I being over anxious guys?????.............please dont advise me to ring them, I have probably spent a million quid in calls to them over the last 2 weeks and by now am probably ****ing them off somewhat.

Perhaps you should change your forum name ;)

Give the dealer a call if you are concerned...

You need the vehicle registration number for your insurance company to put the vehicle on cover.

Your supplying dealer will need your insurance cover document (cover note or certificate of motor insurance) to put road tax on the vehicle.

You will need a cheque for over

Have just taken deliver a couple of weeks back and have had a few new cars before so know what you are experiencing.

All this is completely normal! Just keep on calling them, if you think you are ****ing them off just remember that you pay this guys mortgage for him and you are the customer!! Be nice though!! He should be able to give you a reg number but some dealerships will only allocate when the car has arrived.

Make sure you really check the car over when you collect it (the salesman will give you dirty looks though). You should check all over the car as much as possible for a good 10mins(my new renault had run marks all over it).

If they keep you waiting for the car IE a couple of days ask that they fill it with fuel and dont take no for an answer.

Make sure your Pre delivery inspection section in the service book has been stamped.

what did you pay for the car?? and what did you PX???

Perhaps you should change your forum name ;)

 Been there!

As already pointed out, bother them as much as you like. You're the man with the money. Salesmen are generally a bit slack and I'm sure they get a perverse thrill out of not keeping you informed when it's so obvious that you're going to burst if you don't get definate information. And as dsemuk says you do need the info for your insurance. Your dealer will almost certainly ask for the actual documents not photocopies etc so you need at least a couple of days notice for them to arrive in the post.

A tenner says you just jump in it and drive off grinning all the way :D

Enjoy your new motor.

If you pay by cheque it will be at least 5 working days before it goes through the banking system. Most dealers like a bank ( buliding society ) draft. This costs about

When telephoning your insurance company to give them deatils of your new vehicle read out the registration number using the phonetic alphabet to prevent errors, if they do not get the registration correct you may suffer more delays :(

Just another little item which may save you a biy of time

I only had to make a call when i bought my Fabia.

It allready had 12 months tax on it (was going on as a demo but I bought it first).

Paid for it on Switch, the call is just a security thing.

Then I drove off, first new car i'd ever bought aswell and had the biggest grin ever :)

Ross must have been really good to walk in give them your card, arrange insurance and drive out in your new car.

Non of the normal waiting when getting a new toy... sorry car

It was indeed, I allready had the insurance swapped over from my last car, but banging

When i bought my furby, my Insurance company sent the cover note direct to the dealer so he could tax it.

Also I had a temporary tax disc for 2 weeks ( still got it underneath ) till the full 12 month 1 arrived by post to my door.

So it is possible to cut a few corners in order to get your pride & joy quickly.

Steve
