Full scan of car pulls up a few faults

Featured Replies

I've scanned the car today for the first time in ages and pulled up a few faults (serials etc removed):

Address 19: CAN Gateway
2 Faults Found:
01300 - Control Module for Navigation with CD-Rom (J401)
           004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent
01304 - Radio
           004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

Address 37: Navigation (J0506)

           011 - Open Circuit
00862 - Antenna for GPS Navigation (R50/R52)
           007 - Short to Ground - Intermittent

Address 56: Radio (J0506)
2 Faults Found:
00856 - Radio Antenna
           011 - Open Circuit
00862 - Antenna for GPS Navigation (R50/R52)
           007 - Short to Ground - Intermittent

Address 77: Telephone (1Z0 035 729
3 Faults Found:
01042 - Control Module; Not Coded
           000 - -
01299 - Diagnostic Interface for Data Bus (J533)
           004 - No Signal/Communication
00457 - Control Module for Network (J519)
           004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

I should point out that I've not been poking around or tweaking things this is just a plain old scan. Now the open circuit is the second RNS510 antenna that's not connected. the phone errors might relate to the fact that I swapped out the original bluetooth module under the drivers seat for the newer unit.

Any thoughts folks?

"Clear codes"

You mean clear them and see if they reappear?

I'm a VCDS virgin.. cable only arrived today so please treat me like I appear on Jeremy Kyle.

Haha, Yeah clear them.

There's nothing major in there so keep a check on them

I sometimes see the navigation and radio communication ones, they generally clear ok.

The phone ones will be the new module not setup.

Are the codes for the 1Z module the same as the old one? If so I'll fix that controller tonight. Wierd because it works fine :)

Thanks folks,I can finish running back and forth to the car in my slippers now (no pipe today).

Yes you can use the same setup.

I am a muppet, but I found where to set the softcoding and did that.

Where can I find the place in Vagcom to set channel 128-139? I can't find that screen anywhere.

Adaptation.

Nyaha! Monkey see monkey do. Sorted it's all making a lot more sense now. Pity you have to clear the fault codes on each module by hand rather than being able to clear the lot.

Now just got faults showing on nav/radio relating to the lack of other aerial.

I don't know if it's a restriction of the MicroCAN but with the full fat cable you can open AutoScan, select Gateway Installation List and then any controllers displayed in red have a fault. You can then either double click these to open them or select Clear All DTC's.

It seems to be a restriction on the MicroCAN unit. The Clear All DTCs button reports that you need a professional version to use that feature. Makes me wonder what else they disabled. I was under the impression that you just licensed the software from RossTech and that was it. Didn't know they had different versions.

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/autoscan.html Strangely the manual doesn't mention that and simply says that HEX only leads can do this. And a quote from Sebastian from Ross-Tech http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=58556#6

I'll check if I can double click on the red faulted ones to reset them.

Nothing mentioned here either -

But I do remember having a similar conversation with Steve when he had his one.

i cant do it how you do Stu, but if i go into each module i can clear codes that way (which takes longer) but FWIW I have access to most things with the micro can lead, cant think of anything apart from the fault reset bit that is different.
