new octavia in this economic climate

Featured Replies

Hi all might be in the market for a new octavia estate 1.9TDI might go for the elegance or the comfort but must have cruise control, towbar, 13 pin electrics, muli function steering wheel and metalic paint.

I have a 2001 fabia 1,9 might part ex or sell private. The new 08 models you still get the vat off, does that apply to assessories as well?

So if any brave soul has just bough and would be willing to give details (not expecting any) that would be great.

As a thought if you get the vat off the new 08 models that should in theory lower the price on the old model:goodvibe:

I'd buy private, theres loads out there, prices have fallen through the roof or get a yr old one from a car supermarket. Is this something you'd consider?

I have just got a very nice year old 1.9tdi elegance combi with a towbar and cruise, only 6500 miles on the clock.....from James at Allams of Epsom....not sure where you are but you could give him a try and see what he can do

Cruise control can be retro fitted very easily by the dealer as can the towbar. However the multi function steering wheel isn't really an easy job and it was never a especially common option.

If you go for an pre-facelift 08 model year car you get the VAT saving but ONLY if there is one left. I had a look yesterday for someone (off here actually) who wanted a vRS MY08 Hatch and was hardly any and also was looking for a Scout (also someone off here!) and only found one. Yes you get the saving on the optional extras as well as the actual car.

My advice would be either drop the multi function steering wheel and see if we can find a brand new one in a colour you like, or find a very late used one with a low mileage perhaps with multi function steering wheel.

MF Steering wheel can be retro fitted fairly easily I believe but getting hold of one can be pretty expensive.
