Dash Light Irritation!!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

realised yesterday there's a light on my instrument panel that keeps flickering on and off, as though it has a loose connection or something. Looked in my manual and it appears as though it is the airbag symbol (inbetween the engine temp gauge and fuel gauge) Now I haven't touched any of the airbags for a fault to have been made so I'm thinkin it may just be a loose connection to the dash perhaps??!!

Any ideas?? also if this is a major problem, where is the best place to get this sorted?? hope its not strictly a Skoda problem as the nearest Skoda garage to me is quite a way away!!

Thanks in advance

Myabe worth a check with Vagcom if you know somebody in your area.

excuse my ignorance but what is Vagcom??

VAGCOM is a Diagnostics & settings computer for VW group cars..

TBH, if your getting air bag lights i'd take it to skoda or a good independent for speed alone, cuz I wouldn't want to chance a faulty bag myself,

wat would be the chances of me being able to take it to a VW garage?? or would they just tell me politely to go elsewhere?!

Never tried myself.. but I don't think they'd tell you to naff off, they may well charge you for some diagnostics time though.

Hi Wez

We have not got the VRs but are you sure its the Airbag light ! I had a simular where a light flickered, and it turned out to be the rear seat was not clipped in correctly !

Try pulling the seat down and putting it back (with a clunk) and that cured ours !!

ok, i will try that and let you know thanks

It's a red warning lamp (airbag is amber) to say that the rear seat isn't latched properly, the part that carries the 3 point centre belt.

Good bet it's the PAS light due to failing battery. A lot of people think it's airbag light, as it's a steering wheel symbol.

Take a picture of it! Or check your manual!

well the light im seeing flash up, looks as tho it is a picture of a seat folded forward with an arrow pointing back, so it would make sense that its just a seat that needs to be clipped back properly, the only reason i thought it was an airbag problem was because I had a look through the manual and the nearest symbol i could find to it was the airbag warning light, iv tried clipping the back seats back into place by giving them a good bang into place so il just see how that goes

thanks to all the people who replied, ur comments were helpful
