Where to order new key for Skoda Octavia 1999

Featured Replies

Hi All

I do have a quick question, does anyone know where to order new pair of keys to Skoda Octavia 1999 with immobilizer. I know that you can order it from Skoda service but they told me that it will cost aground £100 plus (key only) and they cannot guarantee that it will match (which is strange). They told me that if the car is fitted with some non standard immobilizer or other features it will not work. I do have a key number so I think that it shouldn't be a problem ... and I'm preatty sure that this is a standard factory fitted immobilizer .

Any ideas where else I can order this key (ideally cheaper) + to make sure that it will work.

Thx in advance

Cheers,

mck

As far as i know Vag keys are coded and can only be got form the stealer ( Sorry i mean Dealer) I had to get my key sent away with log book to get a lock for mine....... Be good to know if can get keys else where but think it just the stealer.

It's not too hard if you have the tools... You will need your SKC code (4 digit) or you will need a dealer/someone with vag-tacho or similar. You'll need 2 new keys from Hinkleys with virgin transponders (eg new keys, used key will need new transponders). I buy as new 3 button flips, get a new key cut at a specialist for £7, fit a new transponder & badge for £5, extract the SKC from the instruments (cost of the software, cable and laptop) and then code it in with VCDS or similar.

Any good auto locksmith will be able to do similar to the above for around 2/3 the price of Skoda.

I'm afraid it isn't as simple as just getting a new key.

Greg.
