Damo's new LED interior mods

Featured Replies

I replaced all the bulbs throughout on my Vectra as well as the climate illumination & all the buttons with a blue/red theme.

I used CrazyLEDs who was a member on VVOC and quite helpful with an excellent service, mostly next day

i must admit i have been thinking about changing mine for white for a while, but damo's pictures made me realise what im missing out on  (and about £15)

As I said, the pictures dont show how bright they really are, especially the boot shots, so get them done, you will be well impressed with the results. Cheers, Damo

once ive got them i will see how they look and report back, still thinking of doing the boot green or blue not decided yet.

Forget the colours. Stick with white, it has a slight blue hue to it anyway, and looks really cool.

It's a good job we won some money on the bloody thunderball this month!!!!!

You've spurred me into replacing the old 2 year old LED's i had as my interior lighting with newer more powerful stuff. All arrived today and fitted this evening before the pub called!!!!

To replace my old 501 type wedge 4LED bulbs i've now fitted new style 5 large diode 360degree bulbs and i've also upgraded the old 9LED festoon with a 10LED festoon. I've moved the 9LED festoon into the mrs' car along with a set of the 360degree 501's.

My rear numberplate LED's are still going after 2 months so the next month or so is the critical time as that's about as long as others have lasted in the past. These new ones are of the newer large diode variety though.

Just got to decide whether to get another set of the 360 degree units for the boot and fit another OEM boot light on the opposite side of the boot to the existing one.

Cheers

Dave.

done mine today, how can i describe the light, its like the lamp light i have for my stick insects that expensive energy light bulb look, actually its not bad and gives it quite a posh look in an odd way, might order some more to replace the boot ones which are originals and seem to look rather yellow now.

cheers damo

What bulbs are in the number plate lights?

On the classic there is no boot light would the wiring be there somewhere????

does anyone know if the wiring will be there to retro fit a boot light

im thinking of putting one blue back in front as its a bit too bright for my liking, i just dont know as i am so use to the blue ones.

PROBLEM

I've changed my 4 roof led's with bulbs from C-M-S (car mod shop on fleabay)

so 2 x 8led white(blueish) 44mm festoon and 2 x 1 led white(very blue) w5w

The 2 map lights w5w work ok (and look good not too bright)

But when they are supposed to be OFF, they stay on very dimly

Does anyone else see this ???? Damo ????

P.S. "SMS TEXT" - I do recommend these 8 led white 44mm festoon they are perfect and not too bright

This is not uncommon as they take very very little current to light, my vectra one used to stay on very very dim all the time. More noticable at night.

This is because these LED lamps are designed not very clever.

There are four chains (every with two LEDs and a resistor) in parallel.

There is missing a second resistor in parallel to LEDs (current threshold) in each chain.

Not sure what you mean

As its the ONLY ones that stay on dim are the W5W "Single" led

The 44m festoon of 8 Led's is OK

Just fitted 2 44s to mine, they stay dim when off but go off completely when you lock the car

waiting for dark o clock to see how much light they give off

Just as a mater of intrest do some of the models have rear map reading lights as well as the main room light like the front ones do???????

im only gonna change the front middle one back to blue the rear one and the outter front two will stay white.
