If you run out of diesel

Featured Replies

How easy is it to get the car going again if you run out of fuel and refill.

will it draw the fuel through on the key, or do you have to bleed it somehow:confused:

Would be very surprised if it wasn't self-priming. But I hope never to have to find out!

It will self bleed. However..... It can sometimes take longer to self bleed than your battery can handle but if it's just a case of running out then there should still be fuel in the filter and most of the lines so it should be fine.

I thought with a diesel it was a bit more complicated than a petrol.

I.e. where you shouldnt do it to a petrol, you REALLY SHOULDNT let a diesel run dry, because of air bubbles and shiznit

I'd just stop and refill sooner ;)

Yeah, don't run out would be my advice too.

They do fire up quite quick after refill albeit a bit lumpy for a while but i wouldn,t let it get to that stage if poss.

It's better to run out than fill up in a rush ( with petrol...:()

Trust me, ask the wife.

The electric lift pump in the tank will refil the filter housing pretty quick.
