Spun 360 this morning!!!!!!!!!!

Featured Replies

On my way to work this morning the roads where wet but did'nt seem to icy has i started going up a hill the road got slippery/icy just on a corner just has i thought better take it easy was only doing 35-40mph and was about to slow up more the back end spun round, front hit the grass bank and i spun 360 and ended up facing the same way!!!

I got out to have a look at the damage thinking the front would be stacked in.............front splitter smashed to bits one bit still hanging on loads of mud and grass over front bumper and some how that was all! Boy was i lucky! Unfortunately the pug 307 that came round the same bend ended up spinning like me but flipped up over the grass bank and into a feild!! The lady driver was ok and not hurt, the road was like an ice rink! :thumbdwn: Two others cars also skidded off to the side of the road, i rang the police and then spent 30mins slowing down the traffic to warn them of the icy road.

I had no time to think it was so quick bit scary but the road on top of the hill was a joke not gritted at all. I keep thinking what could i have done different but it just happened so quick, i dont think the vrs is very good in slippery conditions anyway what with stiff low suspension and wide tyres. Im just glad no one was hurt and had little damage/none to my car. Just picked up another cupra r splitter just looks wrong now without one. Lucky escape to say the least! :D

Sounds like the Skoda Gods were on your side!

Sounds a very lucky escape, glad your ok.

So your actual bumper was OK and only the cupra splitter was ripped off? Sounds like a lucky escape. It was icy this morning. Caught me by surprise having to defrost my car this morning.

Yeah bumper is fine just lost the splitter, could'nt believe it! :) Though i do wonder if my rear arb was on a softer setting this may of helped as the back end went, though it probaly still would of happened.

No idea about the suspension, but big fat tyres can't hurt in a situation like that. You may be sliding, but more contact with the ground is still better.

Glad you got off so lightly though. If I tried a 360 round here I'd end up head first in a 6ft deep drainage ditch...

Thanks mate! i sure was lucky.

glad everyone was ok :)

i wonder if esp would have made a difference? i've never driven on sheet ice to test it.

It is good you are safe and unhurt . Only done a 360 once and it was a surreal experience almost like slow motion. I was spun round after being hit from the side once.

Ice is always more scary though as you feel disconnected from the car totally and have no control of whats happening. Bet your legs where like jelly when you got out
