Hiya folks,

My 2002 elegance 1.9 tdi estate may soon be pressed into service as a trackday support tow vehicle. My biggest worry is will the car tow what i want comfortably and without placing undue stress on components.

The 4 wheel braked trailer weighs 200kg, the stripped out lightweight track car (corsa 2.0) should weigh no more than 900kg

i reckon theres 200kg of other bits and bobs (ie spare wheels/tools/fuel) - are they best off going in the skoda?

Also my skoda has got lowered suspension (eibach springs) would that cause problems?

Any ideas or suggestions?

I think the car can tow up to 1200kg braked but you'd best check the manual. I've towed an Ifor williams plant trailer with mine(will be heavier than a car trailer and it was surprisingly good) carrying logs. The lower springs should make no difference but no doubt i'll be corrected.

I would have all the spares in the Octavia, only take what you need as it is very easy to make the whole outfit or tow car overweight.

Measure how high the tow hitch of the trailer is off the ground (without the corsa on the trailer) the tow ball of the tow car show be roughly the same height, if it quite a bit lower then you will be lifting the rear wheels off the ground slightly effectively making it a 2 wheel trailer.
