Sport Seats?

Featured Replies

My wife and I bought a Roomster Scout last summer for my wife to use and are delighted with it, except for one item; the front seats are very flat and lacking in lateral support.

I am therefore investigating fitting, or getting the existing seats converted to, Fabia Sport seats; as fitted to Roomsters in Europe in the guise of 'pulse' trim.

Having spoken to my local dealer they have told me that the seats are in three parts for each of the base and the backrest, being 1) the metal frame, 2) the foam bolsters and 3) the fabric covers.

Can anyone therefore tell me, is the metal frame for the Fabia's standard seat the same as the metal frame for the Fabia's Sport seat? i.e. is the extra bolster all part of the foam or is it supported by a different metal frame.

Help appreciated as always.

Alternatively; has anyone got any lateral thinking ideas as to how I can get the seats changed?. e.g. Would the seats from a Fabia I vRS fit in a Roomster/Fabia II.

The frame will be the same I'm sure.

Perhaps a friendly Briskodian will let you try their Fabia seats? Only 4 bolts when all's said and done. I have a bag of the bolts here if too if you want them as they are single use.

will be a straight swap. should be no problems at all

I've done some independent research on this and it looks like I want to get my Roomster's seats converted to a Fabia Sport's; we would now just like to look at and sit in a fabia Sport now.

Local dealers do not seem to have any at present as"Sold them,Sir" so - is there anyone in mid/north Herts with a Fabia Sport thay we could have a look at?

Turns out the Service Manager of my local dealer runs a Fabia 1.9TDI Sport; so going up to see him tomorrow and compare the seats.

We were actually looking to buy a Sport, but went for the 3 in the end. There are more 3’s about so the prices are a touch lower, even though the new price is higher.

The seats ‘look’ better in the Sport, but from what I’ve seen its only the bolster foam that’s different, the 3’s just as effective at keeping you in the seat!

I also prefer the steering wheel in the Sport, but then you don’t get climate, parking sensors, maxi-dot or the arm rest!

I was able to check out the 'Sport' seats last weekend and the only difference to 'standard' seats is the foam bolsters and fabric; the metal base/frame is the same on all seats. The side bolsters are more substantial and the base foam 4cm longer so this makes the seat more supportive; which is what we want.

Therefore my dealer is just working out what parts are needed and what they will cost.

Hi Bahnstormer

Interesting, as I find the original Scout seats a bit flat too (in all directions, incl lack of lumbarsupport).

Would love to have the Dynamic seats too. (although I barely drive the Roomy).

Sadly they dont have them as an extra for the Roomy Scout.

.... but I was under the impression that you could, in Europe, specify the 'Pulse' interior that includes 'sport seats' as an optional extra; at least that is what the brochure on skoda-auto.com suggests.

All I found was the leather/cloth option (at least on the Scout).

That is an option for the "normal" Roomster, but not for the Scout.

Scout can only be delivered with the Scout design cloth or the Scout design leather/cloth seats.

Sad but true ;)

Would love to have those Pulse seats (than I dont have to change the backseats too)

I'll let you know how I get on and what parts are required; once my dealer tells me.

Spoke to my dealer the other day and it seems like the project can be done. I looked through the EKTA screens at the part numbers and it all seems to make sense. We just need to get the 'Sport' foam bolsters/cushion and fabric covers for each seat and have them swapped over with the OE ones; expected cost parts, labour and VAT is c. £930.

Not a cheap modification but, for example, to replace both front seats with Recaros would come to c. £1,600 - £1,700 and that would be without side airbags (insurance factor?). Also having bought our Roomster new 6 months ago we are looking at keeping it for 4 - 5 years which defrays the cost, plus if we were to replace it with another Roomster Scout I could always switch the seats over.

Final piece in the jigsaw before we go ahead, is for my wife to sit in and check out the Fabia Sport's seat, which she has not yet done. Hoping to do that next weekend.

Thanks (auto)Bahnstormer ;)

Almost the same I found out in German forums. Here they speak about approx 1500 euros .

Will look for some used ones, but the chance to get some is near zero.:(

Born in Holland lived there for more than 30 years, met wife lived near Dortmund (Schwerte) for the first couple of years before we moved to Leverkusen.

And still storming the bahns :D

I chased my dealer on this yesterday; Job should have been done earlier this week but some of the main parts are on 'back order', so we have to wait for them to come in. :thumbdwn:

Final part arrived last week, so we have Roomster booked in for Thursday 28th May and collect on the Saturday (need to coordinate with half-term). :) Will update after that.

Finally got our front seats converted to 'Sport' (Pulse) specification. It took a while mostly due to delay in getting a couple of the parts and then my wife and I waiting to the 'half term' week before getting the job done.

Collected our Scout during last week and the Sport seats are excellent. They look good, are not too dissimilar compared to the OEM ones (still in the rear of the car), very supporting and less firm than the OE ones.

Here are a couple of pics of the finished item (they are actually a little bit darker than they look in the pics);-

Overall, we're very pleased with the result.

Top Job there Guy.

Is it possible to get a breakdown of the parts required please mate, as this is possibly next on my list.

Parts required with rrp are as follows (not got the full name to each part on my bill);

1T0883920B47H Guide with ...... x 2 - £5.96

5J0881375E Padding fo..... x 2 - £74.32

5J0881405AFYAW Seat cover x 2 - £86.96

5J0881775K Padding fo..... x 1 - £45.02

5J0881776E Padding fo..... x 1 - £45.02

5J0881805CHYAW Backrest C... x 1 - £76.10

5J0881806AMYAW Backrest C... x 1 - £76.10

Total; £409.48

Time taken for the job (calculated from cost divided by dealer's labour rate) I reckon is 5.7 hours. c. £485

Overall not a cheap job but IMHO worth it.
