Trim Removal

Featured Replies

Due soon to be retro fitting an MFD3 Columbus.

Apart from buying a set of pukka trim removal tools, or asking my dealer nicely if they'd do it, can anyone suggest what I could use to remove the vent/tray from the top of the dash, without risking damage ? Also, the centre console trim seems to come away quite easily except for the pegs along the top - has anyone else had problems releasing them ?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Have seen the method on Stu's website, and plan to do it that way.

The firsy time I did it I used a knife blade to release along the top edge of the centre trim. The top storage box is quit easy and you could use the same knife blade or I used to use my thumbnails.

i had the stream radio in mine..when the rns510 was fitted, all that was needed was to remove the 'silver' facia surround..this was easily done, by gently prising the facia from the bottom (just above the ashtray), and the rest popped out no probs..don't forget to order the new facia !!

Get a set of blue plastic facia/dash pullers. they are only a few quid off eBay or your local toolshop and worth it.

The top cubby is dead easy to pop out. Stick lever in bottom join below the hazard switch and prize from the corners upwards. It just pops upwards. There's a cable on the back of the cubby so be careful moving it.

Can't comment on the top vent removal but for the stero surround I opened the ashtray to make more space for my hand then pulled the lower clips down slightly and forwards. The vertical clips on the narrower edges popped on their own and I used an old credit card to slide in and unlatch the clips running across the top (just above the stereo).
