Quick hello

Just migrated from a Leon Cupra to an Octy Vrs and would like to say hello.

Over the next few months I will be most likely found in the engine tweeking sections and forums relating to handling etc.

For the last two years I have been running and gradually modifying a Leon Cupra. I've messed with pretty much all aspects of the car from engine upgrades to suspension modifications right down to adding things like S3 braces etc etc. Thats the level I'm coming from.

Looking forward to reading, typing and sharing my fun with the new shiny black Octy Vrs sat in my garage.

I will be sharing my surf time between here and Seatcupra.net which is one of the most balanced and progressive car sites out there.

Welcome

Did you keep the S3 braces?...They fit the Octavia too.

Drove it home about 5 hours ago from the stealership and pulled straight into the garage.......Hood up.

1 hour later...............

Forge DV in place

K and N panel filter in place (will wait 'til run in and remap before i take the induction kit off the shelf)

N75 j in place( won't do much until remap but it's fit and forget)

Rivnuts in and lower brace on.

I think I either need help or I have too much spare time.

Whats disturbing is the Konis are sat on my bench as is the upper brace.

It may take a few weeks for the newness of it all to wear off before I attack the car with my drill :):)

Which Koni's?

It will be interesting to hear if they are suitable for the Octavia, as RS suspension has been a bit of a limited choice, with KW's being the "popular" answer so far...

Best Shock in the biz for a road car IMO

They seem to complement my driving style and soak up the bumps

I seem to recall reading somewhere on the site about some koni's causing rear tyres to blowout...... I am no expert, but its worth checking

Run Konis on every car I've owned for the last 18 years and never heard of a shock causing a blowout!

Tyres blow out through a multitude of reasons mainly damage...slow punctures etc but a damper?

needless to say I am looking foward to Octy ownership

Cu all on the forums

Welcome to Briskoda, fickel. I know that the N75J is popular with SEATCupra.net members, but have a read of this thread in which there is some discussion about fitting that version to the Octavia in place of the standard N75F. I don't recall it being a 'must have' mod amongst our members.

Welcome.

Thanks chaps

looks like briskoda is gonna be every bit as good a place to hang out as seatcupra.net.

On a point of interest the n75 mod was a remarkable change on my leon.

The remap was an Upsolute and it pulled 1 bar boost dead just as it should.

On changing to a J spec my boost held 1.35 bar and dropped back to around 11psi as I hit the redline.

It was like having a remap on a remap  if you know what I mean

Can't see why it won't work on the Octy though? same engine etc

We shall see, coz I aint happy unless I'm getting scuffed knuckles under the bonnet

Anyway hope the wife doesn't read this as I told her the Octy was coming because I was growing up

tee hee :D

I have them, but don't drive around with them. They probably do the business well, but I find them fugly.

Regarding the N75 thing, a few months ago we did a scientific test on rolling road. The Jabba tuned car was run with the standard N75 and the figures and curve shape etc noted. The N75 was then swapped for the N75J and the same car run again. On this second run the initial boost was improved but as the revs increased the nice smooth curve became very uneven and jagged if you know what I mean and it seemed impossible to improve on this so the oem N75 was put back in.

Was this me? Can't remember. ;)

I fitted an N75J "on top" off my remap.....found the turbo to spin up quicker and hit the boost limiter quickly.....you can hear the turbo whistle pulse.....did find that it gave a little more performance...apparently it give 0.1 more boost.

Did get Jabba to have a go at remapping with the J and it made the engine rough. Not refitted it since.......cheap as chips though...
