SEAT ALTEA 1.9TDi

Featured Replies

Okay...I've got my vRS Octy up for grabs, and am finally getting some interest

(THE PRICE IS RIGHT.....COME ON DOWN !!)

and I am seriously considering a Seat Altea 1.9 TDi Stylance as a replacement.

However, I see that it only has 105 BHP and 184 torques (to quote a certain Mr Clarkson !!).

I am thinking the easiest solution to improve both of these figures would be a re-map, but never having ventured into this particular area before, I was wondering what potential increase in power/torques/fuel consumption or other potential problems I would be looking at, and how much I would have to spend ???

Also, how many 1.9 tdi engine variations do the VW group produce, and has anyone any personal experience of this particular engine ???

P.S. Anyone like my new Avatar ???:D:D

I did try looking on the SEAT forum, but they look to be a miserable bunch, (all 3 of them !!!), as it appears to take a month to get a reply to the most basic question :rofl:.

Is this the same engine as fitted in the Octy/Furby ??

Sorry it was such a brief reply it was done without the aid of a keyboard.

mk 2 octy and mk2 fabia and roomster 1.9 diesel will be relevent. There's a few threads on remapping them. Johnwg with a mk5 Golf possibly  and Fluffmeister with his vRoomster

Nearly bought one of these but the wife didn't like the styling. Hoping to win one in the DVLA car tax prize draw.

Which Seat forum did you try? SEAT Cupra.net - SEAT Forum is (probably always was) the daddy. seatforum/enthusiasts is now only a shell of its previous form.

Ahh...that explains a lot...guess which one I registered on :o:O !!!

Just searched a couple of threads on here and ended up linking in to "AWESOME"'s website, and lo-and-behold they actually list a re-map for the Seat Altea 1.9 TDi (amongst others) at £375, which gives 136 bhp and 227 torques, which sounds ok, but can I expect any problems with the clutch or anything else ??

I indeed once own a Mk V Golf with the 1.9 TDI (105bhp) engine, and yes I did have it remapped.... in basic terms the remap took it up to the same sort of levels as a standard Fabia VRS.

It didn't set the world on fire in terms of hot hatch performance (i.e. it wasn't on a par with an Octy II VRS TFSI) but it went quite well :D

There are numerous companies out there who can remap this engine, all giving similar results so shop around and find a deal that suits you

Edit: unlike the PD 130bhp, I have never heard of DMF or clutch problems with PD 105bhp remaps - mine certainly didn't suffer

You might want to check out Superchips Bluefin or even Tuning box options. They all take it up to around the 125/130 ish mark
