About to order a brand New Fabia - Need help choosing the spec and color

Featured Replies

As I said, I am about to order a Brand new Skoda Fabia :)

I am going with the 1.6 engine and a manual gearbox.

It's the "Sport" trim which includes sports seats, nice alloys, 3 spoke steering wheel etc.

There are a few options I'm not so sure about.

1. Maxi DOT. Should I get this over the standard gauges? I like the way the Maxi Dot has "real" temp and fuel gauges, the screen is also nice. However, I can't seem to find out what it does that the standard gauges can't do. Apart form looking nicer, is it any good?

2. I was told at the dealership, that as standard, the Fabia only comes with speakers in the front. I can add rear speakers as and extra. I'm not quite sure what to do.

3. The Fabias they have in stock, have an aftermarket pionner head unit. There is also a small compartment under the head unit. I don't know if I should go for that or order the "Dance" unit. I need a AUX port for my ipod, both the pionner unit and the "Dance" seem to have it. Which option would be better? Is the Dance Unit any good?

4. I'm also in a bit of a dillema about the color. I am thinking about 3 options - Cappuccino Beige Metallic, Anthracite Grey mettalic or Anthracite Grey mettalic with the white roof. I haven't seen any of the in person :thumbdwn: I couln't find any pictures online either. What color do you think would be best, and which one would be easiest to clean and keep clean?

Thanks :)

Maxi-dot is nice, it doesn't really do anything just looks nicer and gives you the information from the trip computer in a easier to read fashion.

Your dealer is wrong the Sport does have rear speakers, in fact it has 8 speakers in total.

I'd just stick with the standard headunit as aftermarket ones don't really fit properly.

As for the colour I'd want to have Anthracite Grey I think, but go for whichever one you want the most or which ever you get the best deal on!

Thanks for the speedy answer :)

As for the Dance unit, how does it sound? Is it really better over the aftermarket ones?

I think I won't go for Maxi-dot then, because it will mean a special order and that will take 3 months :(

I also think the Anthracite Grey would be nicer, but how hard is it to keep clean? And how hard is it to clean? Also, I'm really not sure if I should go for the white roof or not.

I don't mind the sound of the standard system, it isn't bad. A aftermarket setup would be better sound quality but I prefer the standard look.

I personally wouldn't bother with the white roof, I also would expect that you'd have to wait for a white roof one to be built.

Actually just checked the system and there isn't a single Grey Fabia Sport showing in the country so that would be a factory order anyway.

Assuming you're UK based I could get you pretty much straight away a Sprint Yellow one, an Tangerine Orange one or a Candy White one, and I've also got a 58 plate Dynamic Blue 1.6Sport demo.

I think Anthracite with white roof would look great. I've had a quick look on the Skoda UK website used car section, and can't find one - but there are a couple of black Fabias with white roofs which give you an idea...

Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDi PD Sport 5-Dr Hatchback / KV58VYR

or

Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDI PD Sport 5-Dr Hatchback / KV58WDZ

In terms of keeping it clean, I think its going to be slightly easier to keep it looking good than black, but will show muck a bit more than silver for example.

It depends how much you like cleaning your car, and how much satisfaction you get from doing it. Personally I would love a dark coloured car - I enjoy looking after my vehicles and black / dark grey rewards your effort more than any other colour IMHO, but I do high mileage and would just get depressed with it loooking dirty a lot of the time.

I am not in the UK ;)

The only grey one they have is with a white roof, and it's add for free :)

If I want all grey, that would be a factory order.

Ah, your Fabia specs may differ from the UK market then. It may well not have rear speakers then.

You get white roofs for free? How come we have to pay £350 to get them?

I just checked, it defiantly doesn't have rear speakers. How important are they? Would it make a big difference if I didn't have them?

As for the white roof, it's also a cost option here, but they are adding it in for free until March.

All the colours are easy to clean, some of course show the dirt more than others. The paint quality and finish on Skoda's is really good. I have a new Fabia 2 Estate metallic but I had the car's paint professionally treated by the dealer with the 'Supaguard' coating, and the interior seat fabric and carpets treated with protective treatment also. I gotta tell you, it's made an amazing difference to the way the car stays clean. It protects against swirl marks too. It's also very very easy to wash. Dirt just falls off and the car comes up gleaming everytime. I highly recommend it. Standard Dance system is very good with our 8 speakers. Don't have Maxi Dot in mine. Standard dials are fine. Enjoy your car when you get it and make sure you post back to let us know how you are getting on with it.

....It protects against swirl marks too....

Go and rub your car with a brillo pad and then come back and tell me if you really believe that!

So, does anyone have front speakers only? How much of a difference is it without having rear speakers?

Hi Evo,

I have the 1.2 70 bhp Sport. I am very pleased with it. I´m from Denmark and here 8 speakers are not standart. I ordered them and with the Dance radio, I think the package sounds very good.

Mine is light grey metallic and I find that it takes a little longer before it looks dirty compared to a darker color.

I haven´t the maxi dot but sometimes regred that I didn´t order it.Like the looks of it...

Thanks.

As for one of my previous questions, are there any photos to be found of grey fabias with the white roof?

I normally use coarse grade emery paper!!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

As you can read some of the brothers are well into the silly season suffering with SAD syndrome.

Get the best spec you can maybe the '3' as it saves all the fuss of additions. A minor point is, come to resale time it well be the best seller when against a '1' & '2'. All the colours are OK apart from the 'brown'. Had I purchased mine from new I would have gone for the white roof, I think that sets the car apart. However, save the money and there is your first year tax and fuel. Good luck.

White 1.6 Sport!

I ordered one but got made redundant before delivery :(

Dark blue, white roof 1.9 TDi Sport, add your toys, job done :D

I have one last thing I am not sure about, should I order rear speakers, which are installed locally? Or just take the front set that comes from the factory?
