Strange this, but my last few fill ups have been sainsburys own, and the car is running lovely, no smoke or anything and enough grunt to satisfy a horny sow.

Previously I was using BP ultimate, and the car was running as rough as desperate Dans chin, and smoking more than me....

I might try paraffin next.....

Aaaaaaand this thread is going the same place as all the others....:D

A little bit of digging shows that the semi-nitrogenated alkyl-ketyle-ethyl organic improver liquids added to the new super diesels will provide a perceived performance increase in cars where these fuels are used.

Ahhh. Red Bull for your car ;) Makes you feel a bit better but your still knackered.

I think you got what I was saying ;)

Indeed. But my attempted point was that 5th gear only looked at one aspect - the top end. The shape of the curve(s) might give more useful information, as indeed did the Evo tests on higher octane fuels. There was a greater benefit in mid-range than the top end!

Yes, that's to be expected. The top end is all about gas flow, and the best fuel in the world can't change the design of the engine. The best gains will be where the engine is working at its best — In gas flow terms — to begin with. That means 'in the green', if we had green bits on our rev-counters. For a TDI that's about 1900-2700.

Any chance this could be merged with the other thread?

Which one, there must be about 20....

shouldnt they have run a few tanks through to get the best results for the dyno on fifith gear? i thought it took a few tanks for the ecu to recognise the change to super dooper fuel??

B.I.N.G.O ;)

Exactly, If the next tank had been asda or tesco or anyone's fuel how do they know that wouldn't have run even better?

True, but how many complaints would they have had for p'ing 4 or 5 tanks of premium fuel on a dyno during these environment and financially sensitive times?

Probably less than from misleading people into thinking it's better and not pointing out that even if the claims were true it would never pay for itself. ;)
