Whoops! Ah well, points for trying

Judging by the photos, I think you might have needed some better spec off-road rubber on there....

Steve

Whoops. I've not managed to do that yet, but it's only a matter of time :)

I'm not sure tyres with tread of less than a cm or would have helped in that, best thing would have been a bit of momentum :D edit: oh, or a completely locked diff.

How can the rear tyres be as sh!t-high as that, yet not a speck on the bodywork?

I think you've missed two of the photos!

I can only see one photo of the REAR tyres. :P :D

:o oops

Remembering of course it is Haldex and not true 4x4 ;)

I have a sneaking suspicion it was nothing to do with the tyres......just the fact that the bottom of the car was touching the ground.....Octys ..even 4x4 ones don't have a lot of ground clearance

Let's go off-roading!! ;)

Haha I remember that!

P.S. If anyone wants a proper offroader, then you can buy my lwb suzuki samurai off me if you like! Better offroad than a lardy old land rover anyday!

I've seen that happen for real. A Landie got bogged down in a field, and a Suzi turnover drove round it pointing and laughing.

lol i miss the days of off roading in my old cars!

To be fair the photos don't show a field do they. thats a Bog! good effort though. The other day I forded through a lake (flood on road outside a factory) that was 18-20" deep in the middle of the road, went into the factory (car park was empty except 1 Rover 75) where they asked if I had just come through "the puddle". turns out the Rover is dead as the owner went for 2nd then stalled. the weight of the water in 2nd was enough to bend things in the engine. he got towed out by a water board lorry that had come to clear the water. To add insult to injury while he was getting tow rope out of the boot a girl in a Punto went ploughing through causing a wave that went up his ar5e and into his boot, when he shouted she gave him the :finger:. you can imagine at this point I was  I will have to get the photo they took of the lorry towing them out.

bogs arn't on the M5 are they there in fields. :D

Bogs -usually found on services ,non?

Wise old man in Africa ,when I said that now I had been given Landie Icould get anywhere ,said -it's not where you can go that's important ,but where you CAN'T .:finger:

But if you havent got the ground clearance - it's difficult to keep up momentum ,just in case there's a rock in the soft stuff .

If you've got the height it's possible to keep them going ,as long as the rear end don't get ambitious :confused:and forget it's place ,even on road tyres .

Classic car for the field task was an old Renault 4 - rumour was one bloke used it to plough .
