Yep...well thinking about it. Question is warranty on imports. Whats the difference now we are all part of Europe and alike?

Steer clear of the saving or bite there arm off?

Thanks in advance.

April 1st already? :D

Surely the likes of TINS can match import prices anyway ?

Not looking at new cars...which is where the confusion in my mind is occuring. Way to much junk in google for searching at this time of night...

Geoff's probably right about people like TINS.

I guess the issue is that at least part of the warranty is with the dealer not the manufacturer, hence UK based.

Sorry, didn't see the 'used' bit.

Yeah the import warranty should it be honoured by a UK dealer though?

I know a friend had a torrid time with his VW, he was going to get an import TDI, but ended up going for a uk 2.84motion because of the "issues".

If we go for 12month old then only a balance of warranty exists, where as the import would have 2 maybe 3 years left if it would be covered.

That said I should just buy Jasons M6...must resist.

Might as well buy Paul's Octy, it'll be cheaper to run :D

The M6 often known as The Money Pit :)

Be careful though...

If the tyres are new, but the roof looks well "used" then Jason might have been driving it :D

Colin try Motorpoint they are selling 53 plate Fab TDI Elegance for 7K a bargain IMHO. And no possible issues with an import.

I'm sure I read somewhere that every car in the EU has 1 years warranty (or is it 2). After that first year the warranty is down to the counrty you bought it from. So in the UK you get a further 2 years (or 1)..........I think :)

Thanks guys. Think we have located one, UK spec good price possibly.

Now I'll have to find out about seat care and alike...here's to a new Fabia in the clan.

I assume with this mention of seat care you're talking about one of those ickle RSs?

aha - the post may be 24 hours old, but its still worthy of a :finger::rofl:

From SkodaAuto UK's FAQs:

I want to import a Skoda. Will my car still be covered by the Skoda Warranty?

Vehicles purchased prior to 1st Novemeber 2001 will be provided with a 1 year manufacturers warranty. Vehicles purchased and registered after this date will be provided with a 2 year manufacturer warranty.

I think that reply only applies to cars imported from within the EU. Additionally, you won't get 3 year of AA breakdown cover, nor the third year/60K limit warranty extension underwritten by SkodaAuto UK.
