Fifth Gear Diesel Fuel Test

Featured Replies

I don't know if any one else saw Fifth Gear about putting in different types of derv to see if derv optimum fuel was better than supermarket derv.

According to the test there was a 6bhp difference.

If the supermarket derv had have been put in last do you think the difference would have been as great with the optimum possibly cleaning the injectors etc?

As with most of the Fifth Gear stuff, it was about as scientific as a pair of clownshoes.

Totally agree

FWIW I just run mine on Tesco Diesel with millers and that's what it was running on the Awesome RR day and performed commendably

Yes, their testing methods for these sorts of things does leave a little to be desired

I had two RR days at awsome, 1st on standard fuel, second on V-power, no difference to the car at all... I got 7bhp more on the v-power. thats my test :)

Tesco+Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 - A modest but noticeable increase in performance on the road.

V-Power - If there is a difference, I don't notice it.

I usually just use Tesco without anything added.

Can these two threads be merged?

i did the same ifyou remember and saw a .5 bhp increase on v power, but that also could have been downto atmospheric conditions

Ahh yes but shell tell you it won't work until after a couple of tanks, so it can't have been the fuel ;)

I filled up with V Power the other day after pulling up to a pump that didn't do regular diesel.

Since then, I seem to have detected a deterioration in economy

Anyway, I'll give it a couple more tankfulls (particularly as one doesn't have to sell any body parts to fill up in these credit crunch days) and see if it makes any difference.
