Blueflame (poor) Performance?!

Featured Replies

Been having some probs with them and I'm getting a bit fed up. Got my exhaust from them fitted just before Chistmas, but they'd sent the wrong tailpipe. Asked for a twin rolled in and they sent a normal twin.

Emailed Nigel a month ago, and he said no probs, we'll send a new one etc. All fine and dandy.

Waited a week. Nothing.

Emailed again. Nothing.

Called again- Nigel on the shop floor- he'll call you back in 10 minutes. No call.

Called again a few days later. The guy I spoke to interrupted Nigel (who was on the other line) and asked what the score was. Nigel told him to tell me they'd send one out asap.

A week later- nothing.

Emailed Nigel again, explaining the car was going into the garage for some work, and I'd appreciate it if the tailpipe could be sent to get to me by then, so the garage could fit it. He emailed back and said they'd send it out Monday.

Now Thursday, no tailpipe, and the car has been to the garage already.

Hmmm... I was initially impressed with the efficient and friendly service I got from Blueflame, but the after-sales is sadly lacking. It's quite telling that they seem to put the effort in when taking your money, but when it comes to sorting out a mistake they made, they just can't be bothered to sort it. I've been driving around without the tailpipe I ordered and paid for a month after they said they'd send me a new one. Really, really gets my goat when people don't have the manners to return a call or email, especially when you're paying their wages by buying their products!

SORT IT OUT, BLUEFLAME!

I had a similar issue with Nigel & Blueflame with a problem with mine.

I bought mine from JBS, but JBS had welded a 6x4 oval tailpipe on with Blueflames blessing, as Blueflame hadn't a jig to do it. They have done this to all Blueflame exhausts they have sold for the Octavia.

A few months after fitting I developed a rattle on the backbox, making it sound like a chav'd vRS. JBS investigated this & told me the rattle was coming from the front of the backbox the other side to the tailpipe & was a manufacture defect.

JBS tried contacting Nigel, but he was on holiday, so I left it in the hands of JBS. I waited & waited about 5 months in total, but still no action from Blueflame, so I took things into my own hands & phoned Nigel myself. He sounded quite nice & helpful, but told me that he would look into the matter & would phone me back with in a day.

A week went by & still no phone call, so I phoned him again, but he was in a meeting so I left my contact details again for him to ring me back. He never did.

When I did manage to get hold of him he told me that what JBS had done was against the warranty, but confirmed that Blueflame had no jig for the oval tailpipe. He also refuted my claims of the backbox rattling as there wasn't anything that should cause the rattling.

I went down to JBS after putting the phone down & spoke directly to James(owner) in an annoyed tone. He phoned Nigel directly to sort the matter out while I was in front of him. It got a bit heated:rofl:

The outcome was that Blueflame sent a direct replacement backbox & if the fault was a manufactures fault, which it was, that Blueflame would stand to it, but if it was down to the work carried out by JBS, James said JBS would stand to it.

Six months to sort things out:rolleyes:

Thats why I opted to go for the Miltek sports cat rather than the Blueflame cat.

That is the main problem with Blue Flame.........NO CUSTOMER SERVICE :thumbdwn:

they both sound like familiar stories. When I had my blue flame fitted I had to ge the garage where I was getting it fitted to speak to Blueflame direct as when they lined the whole system up the front part and rear part didn't meet as the pipes were too short, BlueFlames response was that the fitter had cut the pipes to short  which confued me as much as the fitter, why would the brand new exhaust need cutting down?? In the end the fitter made a sleeve for me to join the 2 parts together.

I also had the rattle in the back box, it only took me 1 phone call to Blue Flame to get it swapped but they refused to pay for it fitting and said if I came to them they would fit it for free, which was a bit of a problem for me as I lived 250miles away from them and it was cheaper to pay for the fitting.

BlueFlame products are nice and sound ACE but as agreed their Customer Service is lousy.

Well, sent Nigel a stern email 10 days ago, to complain about the service. He replied, apologised and said they still didn't have the rolled in trims. He said he'd let me know when they were on the way. Suffice to say, I still haven't received them. I can't believe that they'd be out of stock for nearly two months...

Anyone fancy ringing them to see if they have them? Get the feeling they just can't be bothered to deal with it and just keep fobbing me off :(

Milltek all the way....

Phoned at 11am. Nigel out delivering a car, so I spoke to Andy, who was very helpful. He took all my details and said he'd make sure Nigel called me back 'within 2 hours'.

No prizes for guessing I haven't had a call.

Anyone know who is the 'top guy' at Blueflame? Calling and emailing doesn't seem to get me anywhere. Think I need to get in touch with the person in charge.

I'm seriously considering getting the exhaust removed, sending it back, demanding a refund and invoicing them for the fitting/removal labour.

Nigel is the head man, and having dealt with him in the past, I find it strange that all this is happening, as he is normally very, very helpful?????

Hi Gerry- I'm finding it strange too! As I said before, Nigel was really helpful when I bought the system- but he doesn't seem interested in sorting the problem out at all, for whatever reason. I'm being continually fobbed off. It's so easily sorted too- they just need to send me the correct tailpipe trim (as he said he would do, nearly two months ago) and/or give me a call to explain what's going on. Not too difficult really!

Well, never received the call, so phoned again and finally got through to Nigel. He assured me the tailpipe had been made and was off being polished.

It finally arrived today after two months of waiting! Nice bit of kit- glad it's all resolved. They really do need to brush up on their aftersales and communication though- being told you'll be called back only to receive no call (several times), and being promised a part 'within the next couple of days' (on several occasions) is the perfect way to lose customers.

Glad its now sorted.
