Uprated Cams, pipercams?

Featured Replies

looked a fair bit and i cant see to see any Ocvavia Mk1 with uprated cams, has anybody got uprated cams fitted? surely ther'll be a nice 10-15 bhp gain from a set when fitted (obviously) :P

I don't think there worth it iirc.

There was some disscusion a while back and I think the general chat was that the 1.8t is already tuned enough cam wise............I think lol

I assume your talking about the 1.8t anyway.

Edit .......I got that a$$ backwards but I knew there wasn't much point in doing it lol

Upping the boost pressure is a lot cheaper and easier.

I'd say don't bother! Probaly wont gain much and it will be top end gain, i had a piper cam on my mk2 golf gti soon got well fed up with it ran like a sack of ****, cause of the high lift cam!

Generally speaking, unless you want to build an actual race engine, there's not much point in changing the cam(s) on a turbo engine. It's easier, cheaper, and gives you better drivability to change boost, fuelling and timing (on petrol engines).
