Extra gauge data via maxi-dot

Something for the Octy II brigade;

Maxidot Add-On - Display Boost, Oil, Battery and more

KUFATEC GmbH

I can't have this in my A4. But Looks a good alternative to the liquid gauge for canbus cars.

ooooooooooooooo more techno-porn :D. i wonder whats involved in fitting it?

Have ordered one. There is a big pre-order going on via the GolfVGTI forum in Germany. Already over 160 (!) orders. Price for this huge order will be 69 euros in stead of 129.

Look here:

Die! Golf 5 GTI-Community :: Thema anzeigen - Sammelbestellung E-MFA + FSE Fiscon von Kufatec

It will show oiltemp/watertemp/boostpressure(for the TDI)/speed/voltage/speed and maybe even more.

It will connect to the quadlockplug behind the radio. It will be delivered with a male and female quadlockplug to "insert" between original quadlockplug and radio. The device is connected to the wiring in between the male and female quadlockplugs.

Dont know how to describe it correctly, but I hope you will understand what I wrote.

The action with the preorders will end tomorrow. If you need help in german, just ask.

apparently doesnt work if factory bluetooth is installed...

as an electronics design engineer i am quite curious how the maxidot works. quite fancy thing i think. really must get round to reading CANbus specs....

As far as I know, the device reads the information via Can-Bus in the different components that are attached.

It takes the place of the factory mobile phone unit (its place in the maxidot).

So is this thing just a simple plug and go?? And am I reading the post correctly that tomorrow is the last day you can do this pre-order thing?! Also, as that's a german website, anyone know the deal with posting this stuff to the UK? Just wondering what cost there'll be on top of the 69 euros (actually, what do you get for your 69 euros?)?

I've had various Kufatec stuff. The last one being the BT kit (fiscon). Anything which integrates with maxidot (dis on Audi's) will have and english language option.

Almost plug and go, you still have to alter the coding with VCDS of your dealer has to change the coding. It will connect as if it is the mobile phone unit.

Today is the last day where they take the preorders.

The 69 euros will get you the entire thing. An interface connected to the two quadlockplugs. Just fit this between car and radio.

On the Kufatec website the cost of shipping to GB is listed at €14,28.

Another thing, it will only work if you have the maxidot!

Can someone please confirm whether the boost gauge part will work on the TFSi, or is it diesels only?

It will not work on the TFSI GolfV, they say it will work on the diesels.

Dont know how much different the TFSI Octi is compared to the Golf.

Here are two piccies from the GolfV forum (thanks to Reddevil-2.0T)

It shows the newest layout with Voltage in exchange (switcheable with the maxidot stalkbuttons) with RPMs.

It will switch automatically from km/°C to mls/°F with the std settings in the maxidot.

So to clarify, the postage is on top of the 69 euros, yeah?

Suppose so, we will also have to pay for the postage. :o

I want one one! I really do. 69 Euro (AUD130) is a fair price..

But the shipping to Australia is 85 Euro! That's AUD160. Just ridiculous for something that will be $40 with FEDEX. Why do places offer overseas delivery when it's obvious via the price that they aren't really interested at all.

Dum question: I have the Audience sound system & the large format in-dash display. I take it the maxidot part is just the in-dash display & the sound system part doesn't matter?

Maxidot is the little screen in between the rev-counter and speedo.

Maxidot is the little screen in between the rev-counter and speedo.

Is there only one type?

I have a mate with a MkV GTI and his MFD (that's the VAG name for it down here) isn't as big or informative as my Ocatavia version.

Some models will have half height versions with a reduced info. But in skoda the half height one isn't called maxi-dot at all.
