How do I compress the little metal clip and piece of plastic together, the parts guy at the dealership said it is difficult when I picked them up he wasn't wrong :(

I tried to use a pair of Mole Grips to put leverage on the fastener, couldn't get enough force to squeeze the two parts together :(

Your advice would be much appreciated.

I use my mid sized set of water pump pliers and a bit of silicone lube.

Also worth while putting some polishing cloth in the jaws so they dont mark the mudflap.
