just had remap but want to check Boost levels

Featured Replies

just had my ECU back from ECU Evolutions in Newport but want to run some diags to see if boost levels are OK before letting loose. I still think I have a boost leak on the pipe down to the pancake pipe so hoping to be able to confirm this with boost readings as well. Iknow to do the power I use block 120 and the handy spreadsheet from Ross tech but not sure how to check the boost levels. also can someone confirm if the 120 spreadsheet method is acurate for a remapped car, I have read as much as I can find and someone mentions Airflow correction?

nice to see another member in bridgend ! . let me know how the map is going , have been thinking about getting a ECU Evolutions map for sometime now .

If you want to check boost it is block 115.

No the block 120 is not very accurate for a remapped car.

I though so as the run I did worked out about 130bhp? It was a bit odd first time driving as I let it warm up on the drive while I was doing something and it switched to gas straight away, the gas has an ODB system that should adapt but I think it would have been better if it had a run on petrol fire

st. after runing acouple of times it seems to have settled a bit, but boy what a difference. like night and day!!! the spec boost on the run was listed as up to 2000mbar but the most the actual recorded was 1350ish? boost leak? I had a look through the logs from before and the spec and actual boost were always fairly close

I didn't know he remapped the 4x4 cheap (through ebay) or did you contact him direct?

Did you tell him you were going to run it on Gas?

Sounds like a leak with less than 5 psi, unless the map isn't working well with the gas.

I think that does mean Boost leak. As in the ecu is requesting 2000mbar and only getting 1350. I think I'm right here in thinking as 2000mbar is 29 psi,so if you knock off 14psi for normal air pressure then it should be boosting at 15 psi roughly.

What RPM was 2000 mbar at ????

I think .....lol

spent quite a bit of time coresponding to find out as much as possible before hand. got it at the £99 ebay price. I took ECU over on Friday night and picked it up Saturday lunch time. John@DNA had clocked off for the night otherwise Chris would have done it there and then. I think it was a bid odd at first due to the way I started it.

So if they knew everything about the car i suppose you need to check for leaks.

ive been looking at the Miklor clamps for the turbo-intercooler pipes. does anyone happen to know the size required? I think it the 68-73mm but would like to know for sure.

The intercooler inlet and outlet take 57mm silicone hoses.

I've seen a black 04VRS around bridgend, was wondering if there were any other members in the area. If you spot a silver 51 plate 4x4 on 17" Spiders - thats me :D

aside from the couple of things that I know are causing me problems(boost leak:() the difference really is night and day! I spent ages (have been on here since august) before finally deciding to go for it. when I spoke to Chris at ECU EVO the offer was till the end of Jan. price has gone back up to £140 but still excellent value (costs more if you get it direct from DNA). if you want to feel the difference give me PM

Cheers Fatty - I only looked at the logs quickly and they are on the laptop. I will have a check later.. 15psi when the leak is fixed is OK on a K03s though isnt it?

15 is fine, in theory it could go higher than that with no other mods i.e. FMIC.

Some go up around 19-20 with no problems. I think it all depends on the map and seeing as yours is basically a generic I would assume they don't whack the boost up too much for safety reasons.

Stage 1 APR map peaks at 17psi on a vRS, standard at 10psi and limp-mode at 5psi!!

i get 17psi max on a vrs with a map from this company, i'm not sure if the 4x4 map is different.

its not a k03's on the octavia 4x4. just a standard k03 like the earlier golfs

I think it is after 01-02 ish.......Maybe !!!!

Nope the 4x4 has the K03s turbo which is exactly the same as the vrs. I double checked in ETKA.

which is why they get similar power to vrs when mapped!
