Superb 4x4 V6

Featured Replies

Weird how the battery is in the boot, I wonder if they didn't have quite enough room to cram the V6 in

This is the same on the new Passat with V6 and 4-Motion no room for battery up front.

  • I imagine this would be a nice car to buy second hand, hate to think of the depreciation from new...

  • Wont fit, the engine bay is just about big enough for the V®6, This engine is relatively small and not much wider than a in line 4. What would work, is a biturbo conversion of HGP (for example). HGP

  • Hi first post here! :-) I just got my new white 4x4 V6 "with everything"! If someone is interested i can throw some more pictures up later! /Pete

I'd pay £100 a ticket for a raffle for a 3.6 Superb....

And me :D

Have any 3.6's been sold in the UK at all?

I've still yet to see any Superb II on the road. Saw 2 on a VAG transporter the other day - that's all I've seen apart from the one's in the dealers.

Cant see the car handling well either , the wheelbase is simply too long , the car i test drove felt a little unwieldly when changing direction quickly its just not suited for it so i think this is a case of too much engine not enough handling

you must be used to driving a caterham then. the superb doesnt feel unwieldly . it handles very well FOR A BIG CAR. if you compare like for like I am sure it is not different to most cars in its class.

Couldnt be more wrong :) My main car is a Mercedes E class estate and compared to that barge the Superb feels a little unwieldly you feel the the length of the wheelbase when tipping into a corner its not progressive get so far and then it tips in, its not a critism as such as the Superb was never meant to be sporty and its not the kind of car i would want to be hustling down a twisty country lane.

Perhaps it is better with 4wd but even so i dont see the point of engines like that in the car , i dont expect most of us will ever see one on the road anyhow

I cant see Skoda simply throwing that engine into the standard chassis setup! Im betting the anti roll bars with be thicker and there will be enhancements made to the spring and damper combo. :)

Body roll and damping isnt the issue imo , the wheelbase is very long and that effects the way the car turns in

From experience, using stiffer ARB's can certainly change the way the car turns in.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. :)

how strange. we drove the E class and it felt like i was trying to drive a narrow boat down the country lanes. very wallowy and all over the place. the superb feels much tighter and easier to drive

but its not that long. its about the same as an A4 i think. the body is long but the wheelbase not long. its got a very good turning circle in car parks - mich better than many models I have driven

In fact, is much more easier to maneouver the Superb than my previous Volvo S60, despite the fact that the Volvo was 30 cm shorter

Depends on the E class of course , mine is the sportier Avantgarde spec with a sports park and wider tyres so its not too horrendous plus and its a big plus is its RWD.

Maybe unwieldly was a wrong word to choose , perhaps less predictable would be better , i'm certainly not saying my current car i one i would like to go thrashing about in either but it gives you good feedback unlike the superb which can felt a little detached of course none of this has stopped me ordering one

Its hard to tell with a short overnight drive but i didnt like the way the car tips into bends at speeds i presumed it was the wheel base but as you say the wheel base isnt even as long as my current car its actually about 2ft shorter whilst the total body length is 1mm shorter , the Superb is monstrously heavy though !!!

So its perhaps its not the wheelbase perhaps its just the way the front loads up there is a lot of weight to shift and the wheels are set further back than my cars either way it didnt feel to me like a car to hustle down a bendy roads with, its fine as it is for a 170hp diesel engine but I think putting a big powerful engine is will show up the chassis shortcomings a lot more

Lets be honest though how many are they really going to sell???

Fleet users wont buy them and i cant see many going to private sales either, they are going to depreciate horribly

At least I have been foolish enough to order a 3.6. It will be delivered in two months.

What spec? Options? Spill the beans for us

Elegance trim, Rosso Brunello, ivory interior, ivory alcantara/leather seats, sound system, airbags at back sets, park assist. Beside that just a plain 3.6 4x4 DSG.

As my dealer didn't have such a test car I tried Superb 1.8 TSi, Superb 2.0 TDi CR and a Passat CC 3.6 4x4 DSG. Then I tried to deduct how a Superb 3.6 4x4 would be like.

I also tried a Mondeo 2.0 140hp, but it was way too noisy compared to my current Volvo V70 2.4 170hp wheras the Superb's were at level with the V70.

I usually keep my cars for a rather long time - 8 years for the V70. I hope to keep the Superb as long so the depreciation will not be too tough.

I need space at the back seats as I have 3 almost grown-up children. None of the other car options can compete with the Superb in that area as I don't want a SUV.

(Hope my English is understandable)

Your English is fine . Hope you will give us a full report on tthe car when you get it :D

Wow ... nice spec !!!!

Don't worry is better than many I've seen on here

myrgjorf, firstly Welcome to Briskoda,

Where abouts are you from? As i suspect there might be a long list of members round for a test drive when your new car arrives. :D

Good for you. I've had the chance of driving a Rosso Brunello Superb with Ivory leather in Elegance trim and whilst it flew with its 170 hp under the bonnet, the colour is a little dull and who in their right minds (sorry, but it must be said) wants a white or ivory leather interior. With this lovely wet weather (no snow in Lancs), it was dirty in seconds. The drive though, is excellent and I loved it to bits. Shame I didn't have the £25k, nor can I justify such a big car. Given the right circumstances and available cash, I'd do exactly what the earlier poster has done and ordered one.

I'm from Denmark, near Copenhagen.

So the steering wheel be in the left side - that's the right side for us ;-).

I'm looking forward to drive Skoda again after 14 years with Volvo (945 and V70) and before that 2 years with Opel (Vauxhall) Omega.

My first car was a 120L (I didn't like cars in those days, so I bought an anti-car) and after that I had a Favorit (which learned me to like cars). Hope my new Skoda will be very different from my earlier Skodas.

Paul007: I hope the leather and interior is about the same quality as in my current V70. It's also in ivory and even I've had 3 children in the car for 8 years it still almost like a new car and the leather on the seats are not dirty at all. Hope Skoda (VW) are able to deliver the same quality - that's why I dared to order it in ivory leather.

:eek::eek::D

Nothing plain about a 3.6V6.

I am most jealous! Look forward to the pics (including the engine if possible :) ) and your first impressions of the car.

Just my opinion ! I wouldn't have that combo. It looks very nice but isn't practical for me anyway. Enjoy. I know I did.

we have 2 small kids and took the "risk" of ordering ivory leather. We made sure that we got the black carpets though ! Initial impression is that the drivers seat bolster picks up the dirt with getting in and out and the design of the footrest is stupid - its cream !! it is surrounded by black carpet so would have made sense for it to be black. We have got GardX on the seats. In combination with the seats being leather then they do wipe clean with a cloth and some water from a spray bottle.

Yes they will be harder to keep clean than black but then the same amount of dirt will be on them as it would be if we had black - its just it will show up more and thus be cleaned more than if it were black !! ironically I suspect this means the seats will be cleaner when we come to sell it than if they were black !!

The leather is very soft and high quality. I suspect the shiny slippy effect that often happens to cars with cheap leather will not happen in the superb.

Be careful driving too fast in Denmark!

Today I read in a newpaper that the Danish police has chosen the Superb V6 3.6 4x4 as the most powerful policecar in the Danish policeforce. I guess that's a kind of quality mark.

Spot politiets nye muskel-biler - Transport & logistik (google can translate).

We've got one to test drive at the Allams open day next weekend so will try and take a few pics
