Oh balls - Xbox360

Featured Replies

Since as it was a snow day I thought we would all sit down and watch a dvd. So I fired up the xbox and its HD drive and I had an update. Accepted the update which is downloaded and then it locked up. Re-started the machine and now low and behold three red lights. Oh bugger.

Oh double bugger. Should be repaired free of charge but not much help at the mo.

Your HD drive will work in a PC if that helps.

Yeah i've allready filled int he online repair order. Got postage labels through to stick on the box so its all pretty painless, Just without online gaming for a few weeks :(

Their response times and turnaround times are amazing - the last two xbox repairs we've had here have taken 12 days from the initial support request to having a completely working console again. Nothing like the 6-8 weeks people used to experience :)

My friend experienced the exact same thing. It was when he updated to the new dashboard it crashed! He received a quick turnaround as well though.

Had no problems with mine yet (touch wood), only got it in Aug and dont play it that often though. One friend is on his fourth, with a full refund from microsoft. Another friends 2nd went at the weekend, he fixed it doing something with 3 towels he saw on a forum (no idea what though), works fine now.

At least you will get a months free GOLD live voucher for your trouble :)

Had mine repaired in October, very quick turnaround less than two weeks..

Free gold membership for a month as well

This is the xbox towel trick, mate did it on his when he killed it. Worked fine for a few weeks then gave up the ghost so sent it to microsoft. Best just sending it to them if i'm honest

Mine came back in two weeks, so not bad!

And installed the update fine :)

Get it sent!

Mine took 3 weeks and that was around the time of the Channel Tunnel fire and coming from Germany I dunno what affect that had on it. Pretty good I thought.

Where do people get the free month thing from? All I got was another free faceplate to replace the one I sent away which wasn't broken in the first place.

I had a plastic bag with a engineers report and a note from Microsoft apologising with the month free card in it :D

Im going back 2 years though so it may have changed since?

I guess so, I had a sheet saying what they changed (DVD drive and motherbaord for me) and some survey thing. Then there was the faceplate. So either I binned it or they stopped doing it.

Bit shocking how easily eggboxes fall over and die

I really wouldn't suggest this - Just send it back to Microsoft it's alot easier & safer.

They still do the free month of XBL membership, by the way. It's not a gift, it's just giving you back what you've been unable to use whilst the Xbox was being repaired ;)

No not really.. :P:D

For anyone out of warranty, the X-clamp procedure works very well, is not too complicated and only takes an hour or so - only costs a couple of quid in parts too :)

For those who's machines are still in warranty
