which CD player to fit a Mk1 Fabia ?

Featured Replies

Hi.. has anyone fitted a CD/Radio to replace the standard Radio/Cassette found in Mk1 fabia classics? I'm not wanting anything expensive, just a basic CD/Radio and wondered which would fit if any in place of the Skoda unit or should I just buy a Skoda CD unit from the dealer which I'm guessing would be expensive?

C.

Any DIN headunit would fit, even double double DIN, which covers virtually all head units, to take up the small gap that is left a small fascia adaptor is available from skoda for a couple of quid.

So essentially have a look to see which headunit takes your fancy and it will probably fit.

You will ned to buy a fascia adaptor (about £12 from halfords or £3 from skoda) any CD Player unit that you want and a power adaptor for the unit. if i remember correctly you can either swap the two wires over yourself for it to work or you can buy the adaptor which does it for you. all parts are available from halfords.

I replaced the Skoda cassette radio with an Seat Alana CD radio off of ebay. This unit fits straight in, you just need the facia infill piece as mentioned. I paid £35 for the Alana, the backlight is red and not green.

This ones currently on ebay, the Fabia CD radios are usually a lot more expensive.

SEAT IBIZA AROSA CD RADIO HEAD UNIT "ALANA" BRAND NEW on eBay, also, Seat, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 10-Feb-09 20:00:00 GMT)

I'd stick a wanted post in the Wanted section - lots of VRs owners have changed the standard Skoda Symphony CD player to an aftermarket one and have the standard one - which is £400+ from a dealer  - hanging around and are normally willing to offload for a snip of the dealer price
