Featured Replies

Hi all just wondering if anyone could help me.I own a Y reg 2001 octavia vrs and i had it remapped everything has been going fine then i put a dump valve on the car it ran tidy for a month then all of a sudden i started to struggle to tick over.Next the light came on so had it checked and it kept coming up with different codes the mechanic turned the light off and re-fitted my original dump valve all was well again.

Few days ago i bougt a jabba sport induction kit which has worked well for almost a week yet again now it is struggling to tick over and power is inconsistant can anyone please give me some advice if possible on what could be causing this how come it will run tidy for a while then start spluttering just dont get it and will have to try and sell the dump valve and induction kit if i cannot sort this out.:(

I think the best bet is to get VAGCOM linked up to your motor to read the fault codes, and identify them. Turning the light off is not really fixing the issue. What ever fault codes came up need resolving. It may be that the DV or the Induction kit are causing an underlign problem to be worsened.

Else people will advise MAF issue, N75 Value issue, air leaks and a host of others.

It could also be something simple like your spark plugs need a change or a regap, as you are slightly altering air fuel with the additional mods. Certainly checking these will also give you an indication of how the car is running.

Thanks for your info aprreciate it the car seems to run tidy now most of the time but nw ad again it still splutters so i will lok into it many thanks.

An occasional splutter could be any early sign of coilpack(s) failing.

Also a quick and free check to make is look how the coilpacks are sitting. I had an occasional stutter and when I checked several coilpacks had lifted. Reason they lifted was the plugs hadn't been torqued tight enough and escaping gasses pushed the coilpacks up. Torqued all the plugs and the problem went away.
