Phonebook using Nokia 6021

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I recently received a Superb ambition business line that has bluetooth installed. I managed to use bluetooth to make a phone call using my phone and I can end the call by pushing the phone button on the steering wheel.

That all works fine, but I am not able to see my phone book on the maxi dot screen or on the bolero radio. I think this will be great functionality which will prevent me from hitting a tree while selecting a phone number......

Is there somebody out there that can help me out?

I don't know if I have to start in the phone settings (Nokia 6021) or in the car system settings.

Switch 'phone on. Settings menu, Connectivity, Bluetooth. Ensure it's "on." Now to Visibility - enable temporarily (2 minutes). Ignition on. MaxiDot Phone Menu - Search for Devices. Should find your Nokia. On the 'phone it will ask to pair with Skoda BT. Accept. After connecting, MaxiDot shows the password to be put into the 'phone. After initialising, when the 'phone asks to connect automatically in the future, answer "OK." That should be it.

Dear Ray,

For some reason I don't see the phone menu on the maxi-dot computer. I only see:

- mfd

- audio

- set up

There's no phone menu there. I have seen pictures on the internet that have it.

I think the problem is that I have not put the phone in the cradle. The cradle was not yet deliverable in the Netherlands, so I thought I could give it a try without the cradle. Then a few things work, like the microphone and being able to manage calls from the phone.

It sounds like you've got either the GSM1 or GSM2 preparation in your car, which means that it's functionality is limited compared to what the UK gets (GSM3 as standard).

In order to get the contacts to work, you will need to load a piece of software onto your phone. That way, the phone pushes the contact to the car kit rather then the car kit retrieving them (which is what happens with the GSM3 kit).

The software I used was called:

Nokia_616_Contacts_Download_S60_3rd.sis

This is actually designed to work with a Nokia 616 car kit, but it achieves the same thing with the Skoda stuff. I tried looking for the download on the Nokia site, but it currently gives a 404 error. If you search the net, you will probably find it.

Having said that, I think your phone is probably a Series 40 device, so this won't do you much good. There is a S40 equivalent, so I guess you might need to search for it.

Sorry to have steered you wrong, bsuperb. Bagpuss, as ever, knows the answer, though - brilliant! :)

Dear Bagpuss,

I looked in the manual and realize I have overlooked some things. You are completely right about the phone book capabilities. I have GSM II installed, which does not support the phone book.

If there is a way around it, that would be helpful. But I cannot find the contact download software on the nokia website. I see the S60 and S80 operating systems software, but the S40 software is missing. So I guess it's not available an will probably need a new phone to get it working.
