Bluefinned at last.

Featured Replies

I have messed about with a digibox for a while and was not been entirely happy with it; in that I didnt feel it lived up to its claims. Ive had them on Landrovers before and they were fine but on the PD170 it was unimpressive. The January price reduction for the Superchips Bluefin was the decider.

I have to say the installation was really easy and I wish Id done it ages ago - the whole process took less than an hour (downloading my old map onto the bluefin, installing the software onto my PC, sending my old map to their server, downloading the new map onto the bluefin and finally over-writing the old map on the car with the new).

The engine is smoother and nicely progressive with more power all the way through the rev range. I feels much better than the digibox. Too early to say anything about mpg (what with the weather an all) but it seems unchanged - time will tell.

Im now a remap convert !

getting 43mpg using brim-to-brim method - am happy with that as i dont frequently hang about but am also economical when i want to be.

Ur digi box for sale then? ;)

Why bother if it's crap

Depends on the price ;)

Just get it mapped and avoid disappointment :D

Will probably work OK on the PD 140; its just the PD 170 in the vRS is pretty highly tuned, has the DPF and super high pressure piezo injectors et al - you therefore need a 'proper job' of a remap.

The 2.0L PD140 and 1.9 PD105 are less sophisticated so a basic tuning-box ought to work OK.

Could always do a 'sale or return' deal. ;)

I get the same consumption 40-42 mpg as before being bluefinned; but then I don't stint with use of the right foot and tend to use all the available performance as often as I can. :D;)

One thing I have done recently is compared my brim to brim mpg with the trip computer readout. The brim to brim is generally 1-1.5mpg worse than the trip, except in a tankful when I know that the DPF has been on a discreet regeneration burn, when the brim to brim is 2.5-3mpg worse. Intriguing.

yes. interested ?

pm sent

I suppose it depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I'm quite happy with the DPT box on my PD170. It doesn't turn it into a rocket ship, but it has improved fuel consumption and low speed pick up and the engine is generally smoother across the rev range. It also hasn't incurred an additional insurance loading.

Have you had your 26E6 campaign remap? This will also improve and smooth low speed pickup.

Yep, two weeks after having the DPT fitted. I didn't notice any further change after the 26E6 fix.
