What are the criteria for the necessity for a dpf and what are the pros and cons?

Judging by the black cloud seen in the rear view mirror following a bootfull,I assume my 2.0pd.dsg has not got one?

I believe a DFP is needed for Euro V compliance.

The black cloud? Fairly standard, and probably more *without* a DPF.

You wont see any clouds with a DPF. Not even with other software.

Just corrected a dumb error.

Have a look in the front of the log book for a three letter code "7GG" if it's there you have a DPF.

Basically it is to meet emmission requirements. Only certain models have them in the UK though - Vrs, 4x4 and Scout as far as I know.
