Octy Service

Featured Replies

Hi

Not posted on the Forum for some time, but have a look in most weeks. My Octy 1.9TDI 4x4 is 3 years old on 1st March and due for its 2nd variable service with 33,500 miles on the clock. I've been quoted from a Skoda dealer £430 - this includes service, oil change on Haldex gear box, Pollen Filter and MOT. I would be most grateful for your comments as to whether this is a fair price to pay. Thanks

Erm in short no

I paid £420 for a 2nd variable on 32k This included Service, oil, brake fluid change and front and rear brake pads supplied and fitted. Ask for a breakdown of the costs. Then ring Simpsons Skoda in Burnley and Mitchell Skoda near Ellesmere port. get a quote from both of them then go back to your dealer and ask if they will price match (assuming they are cheaper) Caffyns Skoda in Ashford near me will always price match. So i cant see why the others wont.

A second variable should be around the £220 mark. I cant see how changing some oil pollen filter and MOT can equate to £210

Just had my Octy 2 1.9 tdi in for variable service & MOT as it too will be 3 years old on 1st of March. total cost at Skoda main dealer was £265. Oil change, Pollen filter etc.

I would ring around a few dealers first. Where in the country are you?

Thanks for response I'am in Mansfield Notts

Always worth buying your own oil as dealers charge a fortune for it. You also know then what's been put in.

Ring round and don't be afraid to haggle.

Id try VW at Chesterfield, my mums Polo was serviced this weekend and they were by far the cheapest in the area, including Rainworth! Plus its all VAG parts, so good for the service history/warrenty!

£430 ? That's daylight robbery.

Got another quote from a Nottingham Skoda dealer, much better price.-result! Thanks for all your input.

That's a shocking price, although with 4x4 not sure what extra time it takes. Mine was MOT'd and had 40,000 service for about £200 less than that quote, albeit it's only a standard 1.9tdi.
