Ignition pings

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if you can turn off the annoying pings when you put the keys in the ignition before starting up a 1.9tdi?

:confused:

You get in, start the engine, and then put your seatbelt on?

If so, then that's the car reminding you to put your seatbelt on. Put your seatbelt on before turning the ignition on, or I think it can be cancelled in VAGCom.

:+1: :iagree:

If it does with your seatbelt on then there is something wrong somewhere. My dad had this in his old octy and it turns out is was a problem with the wiring in one of the rear doors.

look under your seat and unplug the sensor under there, its a 30second job

I thought the sensor under the seat was for air bag? and the switch for seat belt warning was in the seat belt buckle.

IIRC there are two connectors: one for the airbag and one for the seat belt. They are both attached to a bracket on the underside of the seat and both, one or none may be present.

there was only 1 on my car and it sorted the ping, you could always try disconnecting 1 if it stops then job done, if it doesnt try the other

The VRS doesn't have airbags in the seat, so you would only have one plug. The seat belt is the smaller of the two. If you have an seat airbag and unplug it you'll get a fault and the airbag light will come on.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Ok, what's funny about it? I was trying to establish whether or not the OP switches the ignition on before fastening their seatbelt, to be certain the issue was the seatbelt chime and not something else.

Not you Ken lol

Just the old "how do I stop these chimes"..................."By putting your seatbelt on"

It make me chuckle
