Steering wheel from Golf 5 in an Octavia 07?

Featured Replies

Will a steering wheel from an VW Golf 5 fit in an 2007 Scoda octavia?

And will the multi function option work with the COLUMBUS (RNS 510)

your not feeling ashamed of your Skoda are you?

The wheel will fit, however for the multifunction controls to work you will also need the steering wheel controller board and the car coding for the multifunction to be enabled. Without the controller and coding your wheel will behave like a normal one.

and i dont know if your aware, the price of the steering wheel isnt too bad but you then also need the VW airbag and that isnt cheap

Some member in Germany did the conversion. The problem is, that you will need more than just the steeringwheel.

Steeringwheel

Airbag

Steeringwheelcontroller

The ring that connects the wheel with the steeringcolumn (dont know what it is called, schleifring in German).

Here is a link to the german instructions he made (change octi wheel to a R32 wheel)

You do start to understand why the Golf costs a few 1000 more than the Oct, with the nicer features like steering wheel and bit better sound dampening. But it goes to show then you DIY some of them of a few 100....:)

And of course you are aware that you CANNOT change the logo on the airbag?

You can of course put a sticker on top of it, but the logo is part of the airbag system and it won't come off.

that does look a lot nicer actually, when i first read the thread i was wandering why you would want to change it

OK, now for Lee to ask the stoopid question :o ....

Is that photo of the Golf wheel in the Octy a photoshop as I had always assumed the Octy wheel had a bigger diameter and the Golf one was smaller (which is what Im after). IN that image its exactly the same size!
