your windscreen seal has gone... ;)

As for the sunroof, if it's a factory unit, look for mud deposits at the feet of the A, B and C posts, and clean them up if you find them. This should also find 4 tubes vanishing up the posts, which could be gently cleaned out for the bottom 6 inches or so. Now the water in the cassette has somewhere to go that might well cure the sunroof leak. Failing that, ot if it's an aftermarket unit, I think it's another seal replacement job.

yep the reason i came here in the first place. sun roof, run some sealant round it and close once and forever....

windshield appears to be fixed by replacing the whole seal, havent got round to doin mine yet, have been tolerating soggy footwells!

Fav sun roof is aftermarket and have seen a few different one's used. If like mine there's a clip on the handle at the front that slides forward when open to release the glass. Do this then gently clean and examine seal for cracks etc. If intact silicone grease (about 5 quid a tube in Maplin) applied to the seal should stop the water getting in. Another method advocated by a member here is to use a length of wire and the this around the seal thereby raising the contact point of the seal higher to the glass.

There are no tubes on a Favorit factory fit sunroof, it's just a simple glass hatch.

I'd bet that's actually an aftermarket unit. If all, say, UK GLX, have them, then they were installed by the importeer as part of the spec.

When I said factory, I meant something that was only ever fitted on a new car by the factory either as standard kit or an option.

The first part is mainly correct, the majority of sunroofs in budget cars were installed by the importer, I used to have to go up to Lada Bridlington and we fit hundreds of glass hatches for them, but the company I worked for in the 80's also supplied standard glass hatches to many car manufacturers that were actually fitted on the track in the car factory. We only supplied cassette type sunroofs with draintubes for mid to premium car makers and a budget brand like Skoda (at the time) would never have had such an option.

I had Autoglass replace my windscreen recently. After the puzzling need to scrape ice off the inside of the glass I found the front carpets were sodden. They sent someone out and I enquired about seal replacement. I was told it wasn't necessary and the technician sealed round the screen with some sort of goo. Water has stopped coming in but it is hard to to dry the carpet. There's sound deadening material behind the dash which holds the water.

Bazz, drive everywhere with the heater on hottest, and fan on full bat, even if it means shirt sleaves and window part open. Well, it's that or a dehumidifier in a garage.

Water has got between the layers of the laminate; you need a new screen as well as a new seal.

Also, as per elsewhere in the thread, the sunroof was almost certainly installed by the UK importer (or later, but I think it was standard on the GLX).
