Octy Vrs Mk1 - Longest Owner?

Featured Replies

I have now owned my Octy Vrs for coming up to 7 years, anyone had a Vrs longer?

It's a 52 plate, and has 79k miles on it

other than being serviced every 10k its never been off the road

Timing belt was changed last year (after 72k) and they did advise me I was lucky as the water pump impellor was almost disintegrated (skoda Newport - 340 quid with pump)

Oh, and the Lamda probe thing went just after warranty.....

My drivers seat has a hole in the leather on the side, where the sealt belt jammed in the door and punctured it, and the parcel shelf supports are coming away where the moulded plastic fixings have snapped off.

Other than that, its in pretty good nick, and, I Love it.......

I never want to change it

Had my Octy vRS from Aug 2001 until November 2008 and loved every minute of it.

Modified to a good extent and never, ever let me down.

im 6 foot 3

does that make me the longest ?

LOL, I was waiting for the longest in the shower remark......

i didnt want to lower the tone too much

By far not the longest but I have past my 3 year ich mark, bring on another 3 years.

It's a happy medium between performance, economy and family wagon.. don't I sound sensible :)

Mine will be 7 on 1st March (56K), one careful owner and still have silver grey carpets. Should I buy it a cake?

I've had mine since it was registered in June 2004 and I plan to keep it for a long time.

I even shipped it 12,000 miles to New Zealand :D

I have had two RS's back to back since August 2002 if that counts. I put 55k miles on the first, and so far 78k miles on the second. I have had a good share of glitches with them, but no more than most manufacturers.

2002: Have had the water pump go (under warranty), coil packs (under warranty), turbo gasket replaced,

2004: steering rack (under warranty), central convenience unit and loom (parts under goodwill from Skoda), two electric window assemblies, anti roll bar and bushings replaced, and an ongoing hate relationship with a factory alarm that doesn't like when it's very windy.

All in all, I'm happier with the Mk 1 than a mate with a 06 Mk 2 RS at the moment.

1year 5months for me, and it's her 7th Birthday this year.

But, are car years like dog years?

The plan is to never sell, just stash it under a cover at the end of my parents garden like my last car! I get emotionally attached to my cars....
