vRS - How much?? Haggle hard

Featured Replies

Was thinking of changing my 07 vRS for a new diesel, however I was getting stupidly low quotes to px mine, when I questioned why I was told that the vRS is not even making bottom book (Glasses) in the trade:eek:. So, if you fancy a used vRS haggle hard and never pay the screen price:D

The "no VAT" offer on new ones has really hit the used prices hard. With new vRS for sub-£16k the used ones have to be really keenly priced to attract business. Fact that the facelifted VRS is round the corner isn't helping either.

Would it be rude to ask how much you've been offered?

I got 8k for my 06 vRS TFSI with 26k when I changed for a vRS CR TDI which I paid £15,700 for.

I wasn't so bothered about the low trade in as I got a good deal on the new one. Plus this time I have gone down the PCP route so am not bothered by the residuals on this one either.

Hi Stubax,

I think in fairness you will struggle to get bottom book on Glasses values for any car at present!

State of the market (lack of buyers, with money or credit) and deals on the new metal just continue to drive used values down.

Interestingly though, I suspect this may change in some ?? months to come.

There has been an oversupply of new vehicles, hence the current stockpile in various storage facilities. But with the reduction in numbers of new vehicles being manufactured (e.g Honda 4 month shutdown), the availability of new vehicles will reduce and prices are then likely to rise, which in turn will help the residual values of used vehicles.

But as somone else pointed out, it is ultimately all about the cost to change!

John.

Actually demand for used cars is pushing used prices up according to Auction reports on Honest John and Pistonheads.

Maybe it's just sales hype generated by BCA.

I didn't get much for my Octy that I traded in but then I didn't pay much for the new one either getting what I thought to be a "reasonable" deal. It's a buyers market if you are prepared to haggle. Some places aren't seeing customers from one week to the next.

I have got £11500 for my 30000 mile 57 plate vRS TDi Estate, against a new 09 vRS CR under the no VAT, free service scheme. Can't remember the price of the new car, but we are getting mudflaps and towbar thrown in.

Certainly good deals to be done.

Should also add we did the deal a few weeks ago, but perhaps as 1st March gets closer they will be more desparate to do better deals!

I suppose the issue here is one man's "stupidly low px" price is another man's "decent px price"

My trade in was valued at £7500 for an 06 2.0 Elegance with 30k on it on the basis that "You're already getting a discount due to the VAT" but I didn't pay anywhere near list for the new one.

I sold my old 2000 (W) SLXi 20v Turbo with 76000 on the clock for £2000 (dealer £600) privately within a week.

I was contacted by back-street dealers making offers but sold it to a chap who bought it in the dark.

I then went and bought an 07 VRS estate from (VAG) local dealer, fully kitted up, Xenons, Maxi-Dot, 4 Elec windows, 18 inch, etc, etc with less than 7000 miles for £12000.

Its the differance between the two items you should consider a bit like house prices.

Your house = £50,000 double that = £100,000 = price you pay to change £50,000

Your house = £100,00 double that = £200,000 = price you pay to change £100,000??? same house???

The man in the middle makes more money!!! You pay more!!!

hmm, when the vRS TFSi goes next year im hoping to get a vRS CR DSG for around 13k, less than 10k on the clock and under 2 years old, I think it should be possible - I hope
