Fuel Pump Cam Follower

Featured Replies

Well today i managed to change the FPCF in the blue bullet. I'm becoming a right little mechaninc with doing coil pack, FPCF, Intercooler, Turbo Outlet Pipe, Relocating the DV, Changing fuel pump internals:D

I bet Lummox must be ****t*ng himself:rolleyes::rofl::P

Anyhow here is a few pics of my FPCF next to a New one. Not sure if this is excessive wear or not but i changed it anyhow.

Would defo recommend checking every 8-10k miles not sure if you need to change that often as mine has been in for 36k and around 23k that is with the uprated pump.

One of the more knowledgeable (i.e. Stu,Lummox etc) may be able to say if the cam has excessive wear or not. Just in case anyone aint sure then the Old one is on the left in the pictures:D

Looks pretty good, but definitely worth keeping an eye on and perhaps changing preventatively every 20k or so.

I have a few things on the list for the Octavia and the pump might work it's way onto that list!

Good photos, did you coat the new follower in any special "running in" grease/oil? Will you be taking it easy over the next few miles to allow the new follower to bed in with the old cam?

The reason I ask is because I am thinking of checking and maybe changing my follower when the weather gets warmer.

Is it just me that thinks the first picture, the one on the right looks like a small baked bean can :D

You have to ask yourself what's happening to the particles that are coming off the cover IMHO.

No didnt need to coat it in anything as it has a fine coating of oil on it anyway in the pot it comes in. I rarely thrash the car anyway so will take it easy anyhow so yes it will bed in nicely

Looks to me like it was well worth changing Carl.
