Octavia cruise control (RES) help

Featured Replies

Just bought an octavia vrs (mark I) but no owners manual. Can anyone tell me what the RES on/off switch on the indicator stalk does. I think it's for cruise control but can't seem to get it to work. Also there is a set +/- button on the end of the same stalk which doesn't seem to do much. And finally the clock shows when i put the ignition on but when i start engine it changes to the thermometer and i can't get it to show the clock again until i turn the engine off!

any help greatly appreciated.thanks.

Ok that Res is Resume on cruise control. If cruise is set at say 60mph and for example you brake for a slower vehicle, hitting Res will turn cruise back on and take you back to set speed of 60mph. Set should hold current speed when pressed. When cruise is active holding + increases speed and - decreases speed. Sounds like the older stalk which can be unreliable so if hitting set isn't doing anything it may be worth checking. Probably just the brake switch bust but could be the stalk.

Thermometer always shows below a certain temperature on start up, hit the switch at the end of the wiper stalk that cycles through the following computer functions. Clock, driving time, miles, average speed, tank range, average mpg, current mpg and ambient temperature. Button underneath wiper stalk if briefly pressed cycles between trip computer 1 and 2. 1 resets automatically after 2 hours without running and 2 does not reset unless you hold the button for several seconds.

You can download an Owner's Manual for the Octavia Tour - ie the Octavia I version still in production - from Skoda Auto a.s in the link below. The answers to your questions are in that manual. :)
