is it worth

Featured Replies

well, the old favorit is coming towards the end of a hard low mileage life

and my point is its going to be weighed in as soon as the weather picks up enough for me to get to work on the pushbike without freezing my knackers off.

is it worth selling the engine? or any other parts? or should i just call it quits and weigh it in?

i payed 150 for the car 8 months ish ago with 43000 miles, its now done nearly 54,000 and needs bottom arms, timing chain (its crying mercy, wont let me listen to music either), tyres and brakes. not to mention the three cars that tried to climb in my boot! now i had the car for 8 months for 150 so im not losing anything at all, but i was interested in wether there would be any interest in the engine? i read one of the projects i think it was an estelle, and they where after an engine. thats what gave me the idea

hmm just a thought

You would be surprised at what old bangers can be worth. My sister has just traded her car in today for £500 - which is exactly what she bought it for over a year and a half ago!

It might be worth sticking an add in the paper - seeing if someone would buy it for £250 ?? Otherwise you could break it for parts if there was the demand.

:iagree:

call it quits

Is that the car in your avater? I'll have the alloys off ya :o

I bought mine for £150 :D

With new car prices and servicing/maintenance costs going up you might find demand for pure cheap simple cars like the Favorit on the uptake.

I say keep it or you might be able to sell it for £300 if its a minter

Alloys make £100 on their own (you'd need a set of steelies though)

Since when were Favorits *bangers* hehehehe

Whats "bottom arms"?

We weighed a Favorit estate in last week and got £90 for it. You could drive it to a yard and get them to fork lift off the ground and take the wheels home with you.

Where did you take it? Scrappies will only pay £20-30 round this way for anything like a fav

well if anyone needs any parts, drop me a pm and we will sort something out, i didnt want to sell the car at first after 3 people now have run into the back of it! its not caused any problems at all and someone who doesnt know much about cars wouldnt know any different

and most the wheels need a refurb tbh but if you want them them make an offer :) i havnt actually ever looked at the spare wheel in this so i dont even know if that ones anygood either, but i will have a look

thanks for the feedback!

We took it to our local breakers yard. They have two branches, one close to the town centre (where they don't pay you as much) and the other a few miles out of town, a larger yard that has weighbridge. If they have to collect the car, that greatly affects the price as well. We took a Micra at the same time and got £90 for that as well. The alloys off the Favorit are now on a Felicia.

Most breakers around my way will just take a car for free and not pay anything. Scrap prices are in a real slump at the moment. I would say sell it as a restoration project.
