Dashboard swap/maxidot question

Featured Replies

Hi

Just bought the dashboard clocks from an 07 VRS TDi off Ebay for £75

It also has the Maxidot display

My question is, will I just be able to have the maxidot pod fitted, or can I install the clocks as well (as they look better than my boring ones). If so that would be doubly good

TIA

Damian

You will have to fit the Full dash as im pretty sure that the MaxiDot pod can't be seperated.

Im pretty certain aswell that the dash will be able to go in (will no doubt need coding with VCDS) but VRStu is the man to ask as i know he has knowledge of how this is done

Yep, will have to fit the full dash but shouldn't be a problem. Fitted the Maxidot to my car, only in Mansfield and quite happy to help if you want to come round

That would be fantastic mate, thanks for the offer. Are you able to swap all the info over then, eg miles and service info etc. I thought you needed vas to do that?

I have a vRS TDi maxidot dashpod in my PD140 Elegance, no problems whatsoever.

Service info yes, not sure if my ebay VAG CAN Commander will work on your replacement cluster as it doesn't work on my new Maxidot (depends on build date of the cluster) but it did work on my old dash. Does it come with a PIN/SKC code?

If this lead won't do it then we might have a problem because it's not possible to code the mileage with VCDS (VAG-COM) unless it's a brand new cluster but the chances are that it will work anyway. No harm in giving it a try and finding out, if I can't set the correct mileage then you might need to get one of these "mileage correction" companies to sort it out for you, but I imagine they don't see many people asking them to roll their mileage forward

PM me and we'll get a time sorted out

Hi shark,

did the VGA CAN commander (obd II lead/software) work on the maxidot change?

I have been thinking of doing this on my vRS TFSi and i also have the VAG CAN Commander cable and 5.1 software (which says milage adjustment but can't work it out as it is all German).

What is the difference between build date of the cluster?

Hi

I can't give you any more information on the VAG Commander as if it is an ebay purchase they are wildly out of date illegal copies and not very useful as I found out. It worked on my original MY06 cluster but not the new cluster with a 2008 build date. It also did not work on a 07/2007 build date cluster. I currently have a 100% proper version on order.

It also did not work on a 07/2007 build date cluster.

And so the survey says BING!!!!

Oh well, i guess 24k looks better than 131k LOL
