Wrong Headlights Supplied

Featured Replies

Attempted to put new headlights on my 2000 Octy today only to find that the shop had supplied the wrong type:mad:, the electrical connection was different because the adjuster motor has a separate power supply on my model, but on the replacement the motor power supply is inside the headlight unit.Only goes to show how careful you need to be with year , model, etc when buying spares. The annoying thing is the bloke at the shop was adamant that this was the correct part when ordering over the phone

did he try selling u the hid headlamps, there all closed in with two plugs?

No mate, the ones he sold me only had one plug with 8 pins, the one I need has a six pin plug & a separate two pin plug for the motor that adjusts the load height

just to clarify my last post, the headlight I need has a 6 pin female plug & a hole for the motor to fit in (bayonet type fit),the wiring on the car has a separate 2 pin male plug to fit the motor

Your car's a pre-faclift octavia, and it sounds like he sold you post-facelift headlights.

The facelift came in 2001, and is easy to miss unless you know what to look for.

It does a bit, but the post facelift headlights won't physically fit a pre facelift car, any more than they will electrically. For the OP an easy check is that the post facelift headlights have a clear glass on them, not a ribbed lens as we think your old lights will.

You're right fellas,my lights do have ribbed glass, shop don't have them in stock but will get them by tomorrow (genuine hella part).Need to get a grille too as my darling wife managed to smack into the back of a clio on tuesday (the very thought of it makes me need to lie down)

Still haven't got lights, shop now says they are a main dealer only part so unless anyone knows of a second hand skoda parts dealer in the west mids it looks like shelling out £240 for a new pair
