what little things make all the diffedrence?

Featured Replies

what little thing on your furby vrs do you think makes all the difference? bein it somethin cosmetic like keepin your wheels clean, or makin sure your green calipers are always clean, or somethin like do you always make sure you use diesel clean or v power diesel? or somethin performance like always checkin your air filter is clean or spendin ages removin them daft little figgly flap things in your air box just to make the air flow smoother. my mates pet hate is ditry door sills and inside the doors. hope you get my drift. interestin to here what ya got to say?

I cannot stand a dirty windscreen!

disconnecting the battery after a warm-up ride and letting the ECU re-learn how I like to drive (it forgets from time to time)

Keeping the inside of my wheelarches clean. Completely irrationally, I believe that keeping them clean saves me weight... Rubbish I know, but it's something that's stuck with me from my first car.

Clean interior.

making sure all the air vent louvres point at the same angle.

sad i know

I like engine bay detailing, and cannot stand mucky windows.

When cleaning your car remember this bit!;)

:rubchin: Mine gets washed when it gets so manky that it dirties stuff it touches. Detailing goes as far as painting over scratches that have gone down to the metal. Styling includes door dings and a dent in the bonnet where some f*&%wit decided to make like Starsky but failed epically when it was parked in the middle of town. The seats get cleaned when they look like they might be a health hazard, the windscreen gets cleaned when I start mistaking the headlights of oncoming cars for photon torpedo attacks, and the injectors get Redexed when I can't see out of the back under harsh acceleration.

But I do put in a new air filter every six months, and Heaven help you if you leave sweet wrappers in my door bins...

^^^ :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Hmm, what grinds my gears?

All the headrests have to be at the same angle!

All the vents need to be at the same angle!

When people get out and leave the seat belt all twisted up it drives me mad.

The little twisty clips that hold down the mats also all need to be locked at 90degrees.

But worst of all... When a front passenger decides to wipe the condensation off the inside of my windscreen using their hand (for some unknown reason, it's almost like a retarded primal instinct), before the blower evaporates it normally. Leaving a big greasy smeared mess on the screen. That is a slappable offence. Or a dead arm at least.

Hi Basil,

So doing this does not reset the ECU back to default then? What if you have had it remapped - does it not reset it back to factory default?

How long does it take to "re-learn" your driving style?

How long do you need to disconnect the battery for for this to work?

Is there any power to be gained in doing this or does it just effect throttle response ?

Sry for all the questions btw :P:)

no - it merely resets the "adaptive driviing" settings, which the car learns after a while. I know mine does it too as if I am forced to pottle in traffic to work, then hoof it, I get lower power and more smoke as the car is in "eco-mode" - good for economy, bad for power. If you drive it hard for a while, it will learn this and gradually give more power. Resetting the ecu via the battery disconnection does this for you, and takes around 15 to 20 mins from memory.
